Chapter 3
She activated Tail Flick. Emily could see the tarantula attempting to dodge, but compared to her, it looked like it was moving in slow motion. The flick hit smoothly, reducing the tarantula’s HP to 11/50.
Unfortunately, this time she hadn’t inflicted the Blind effect, so the terrified arachnid managed to aim and fire a Silk Shoot at her. While it hadn't completely stopped her, she was definitely slowed.
The tarantula took the opportunity to bite her. It only did 9 damage, well, less than that.
[Successfully blocked! Take 5 damage instead of 9.]
There was a small chance to take less damage from a hit, and the higher your constitution, the higher the chance.
Emily was kind of grateful now that she had added that point to Constitution. While the tarantula’s attack wouldn’t have done much damage to her either way, a stronger mob could have done way more to her.
Anyway, the tarantula circled around her, biting her once more. It only did 3 damage, and by that time she was back to full speed. Striking out, she used Bite on the tarantula and finished it off.
She earned herself 6% XP from that fight. Stretching her jaw again, she swallowed the tarantula whole and started digesting it.
[Devouring successful! Acquired ‘Silk Shoot’ skill and 0.5 Free Attribute Points (one full point is required for use)]
What!? How is a snake supposed to shoot silk? she thought.
Clarification came from the system. [A tiny gland had been added behind your fangs. You should be able to shoot silk from there even without the skill, so the ‘Silk Spinner’ trait has also been added.]
She inspected her new skill first.
Silk Shoot (Snake Variant?)
You can shoot an extra-sticky ball of silk at an enemy, trapping them for (5 x INT) seconds. (If the enemy is higher-leveled duration will be shorter, also if the enemy’s STR is higher than the user’s INT the duration will be (2 x enemy STR) shorter)
Cooldown: 1 Minute | Cost: 3 Mana
Intriguing… she thought. This was her only skill that scaled with Intelligence, and also the only one with a mana cost. For this skill to be effective, however, she would have to keep her Intelligence high.
Her HP was still 62/70, but she was tired. I’ll get that XP in another day. she thought as she slithered back in her cave.
Wait! She… sat up? Anyways, she lifted the upper part of her body up. Why don’t I just log out?

She brought up the menu. Attempting to press the ‘Exit Game’ button, nothing happened. System, why can’t I log out?
[We apologize to you and the other 149 players, but an error has been made in the processing of the VR. Instead of a holographic game, you are currently in an alternate dimension. We are extremely sorry, and our tech support is frantically trying to fix this problem.]
What!?!?! So you’re telling me that I’m stuck in an alternate dimension as a snakelet, with no way to go home, and the only cheat I get is eating things and absorbing them!?!?!
The system replied cooly. [Look at it this way. You’re coherent and on your leveling journey with a cheat, while all of those humanoid players are stuck as tiny, toddling 6 year-olds. How is that not an advantage?]
If that was supposed to make her feel better, it didn’t work. So every other player is living a life of luxury (or at least more comfortable than a cave), while I'm stuck as a snake in a jungle? Unfair.
She sulked for a while. Whatever. She decided to take this opportunity to test out her new silk gland. Without using the skill, she summoned silk from behind her fangs and attempted to spin it into a cushion.
It was difficult to spin without… y’know, hands, but eventually she managed to make a blanket…type…thing and laid down on it to rest.
Why was that so hard? She looked at the Silk Spinner trait description.
Silk Spinner
For some reason, as a snake, you acquired this trait. You gain the ability to create and spin silk, and will have a chance to encounter silk based skills at skill selection.
Silk based skills? Sounds decently good. Emily drifted into sleep peacefully.

Meanwhile, in the Empire of Laudaria…
Prince Rudson opened his eyes. You’d never be able to tell, but he was actually from another dimension! This had been his dream since he was a young 16 year old, and it was finally coming true. Excitedly, he opened his status screen.

Heavenly Luck
Heaven will always tilt the scales in your direction, unless it has absolutely no chance of succeeding.
Honestly, with this start, how could he not be the main character? A prince, max luck, and great stats too! He hummed a little song as he hopped out of bed.
Walking to the mirror, he could see that his red hair was immaculately groomed and perfectly smooth. Straightening his bow tie, he pranced along to start his day.
He knew of 2 other transmigrators. One was his younger brother, Rupert, and the other was the daughter of the Duke of Prasia, Nihilia. His younger brother… was only 2.
Rudson wasn’t even sure he was sapient yet. But how did he know that Rupert was a transmigrator? Simple. Nihilia had the Appraisal skill and she had used it to scan everyone she saw.
Once she had found out that he was one of the people from Blue Star, she sent him a letter. He honestly didn’t know how it worked, but what he did know was that he was the protagonist with heavenly luck.
Nothing could ever go wrong for him!
