C6

In the end, I was proven correct. 2 weeks, and a much larger payment, and we were finally let free. Throughout the entire time of our captivity, it was...

How to explain. I was demeaned. I was called a failure for protecting my charges, called 'little better then a common animal'. They eluded to my weakness, and then stated that my skills could be better put to use as a 'breeding sow'. When I first heard those words, I very nearly killed the varrets heir, who was the one to speak them.

Tomas had it just as bad. Questions of his sexuality, questions of skill and competence, and worst yet, insults and jeers at his father's expense.

We stood strong in the face of this blatant provocation, and we stayed silent, polite, and non-intrusive. When the end of our little hell came, I dragged Tomas away and to our carriage. (Not literally, mind, but it was close.)

The carriage was custom made, specifically for my body. It was far more comfortable then other carriages, due to the modifications installed. It was large enough for two of me. Which means... it had room enough for Theodore's coffin.

We set off as soon as we could. The rest of our people would be negotiated for, or simply just return at some point. But, I couldn't help but feel ill at ease.

I was angry. Our people had the tendency to be extreme in our anger. We would burn everything around us for the sake of spite and vengeance. It was why our people as a whole had to flee the drow. Our numbers low from infighting, we were crippled and forced to flee our ancestral home, the middle east.

Now we lived, as a whole, in west turkey, eastern Greece, Crete, and all the isles around that area. Our numbers higher, but far less then what we once were.

My family had split from our bloodline and headed to northern Germany, where we found a home, and a new family. And now... I could see why we were weakened. My blood was cold with anger, and now... now I felt my bloodline burn.
