Chapter 10 – “The Moon That Knelt”

  Five months later…

The moon’s dead surface breathed with ancient light.

Inside Toneri’s hidden sanctuary, relics from a forgotten age pulsed in silence. A holographic display shimmered — faces flickering in spectral overlays: Yuta. Ryouta. Two souls chained to echoes of past lives.

Toneri ōtsutsuki, hair streaked with silver and eyes shadowed by grief, stood before the vision. His fingers brushed the screen as if touching a ghost.

  Toneri (whispers):

“Sylus… you’re him. And Kashin… lives again in Ryouta.”

He stepped onto an ancient launch seal — the same one his ancestors used when they sought to enslave Earth. But his chakra felt different now, heavy with regret.

  Toneri (resolute):

“Your friend is coming for you, Sylus. Be ready.”

  The lunar crust shuddered.

A silver aura burst around him, scattering pale fragments of moonstone into the void. And for the first time in his life, Toneri descended toward Earth… not as a god, but as a knight who had already lost.

Kakashi, still Hokage, stood before the window. His reflection stared back — older, quieter, but not slower.

Above the village, the moon shifted. It was moving.

  Kakashi (thinking):

  “Again. Just like before.”

The door slammed open. Ino stepped in, her face pale.

  Ino:

“Moon chakra signature spiking — Toneri’s coming. Divine-grade descent energy!”

  Kakashi’s gaze sharpened.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

  Kakashi:

  “Send word. Naruto. Sasuke. Now.”

Warm lamplight spilled across the Uzumaki bedroom.

Hinata, eight months pregnant, sat on the edge of the bed, one hand on her stomach. Beside her, one-year-old Yuta pressed into her side, eyes drooping.

  Yuta (sleepy):

“Mama… is Boruto happy inside you?”

  Hinata (soft smile):

“He’s warm and safe. Don’t worry ok.”

Her words faltered. She had felt it — Toneri’s chakra — cold and sharp against the night air. But she said nothing, choosing instead to stroke Yuta’s hair and hum an old Hyūga lullaby.

Outside, Naruto landed on the rooftop without a sound, cloak whispering in the wind, and vanished into the night.

In the quiet of the Uchiha home, Ryouta sat up in his crib. His scarlet eyes were wide, fixed on the door.

Sakura, also eight months pregnant, leaned on the frame, rubbing her lower back.

  Ryouta (frowning):

  “Mama… don’t walk too much.”

  Sakura (chuckling):

“The village might be under attack…”

  Ryouta (serious):

  “Papa’s going. You sit down.”

His gaze was steady, almost adult in its weight. Sakura sighed, heart aching, and lowered herself into a chair.

  Sakura (softly):

  “…You’re just like him.”

Outside, space rippled — and Sasuke vanished in a blink of Rinnegan light.

The earth shook as Toneri landed beyond the walls. His robes were torn, his breath ragged.

Naruto and Sasuke stood before him, Kakashi at their side — all three cloaked in battle readiness.

Toneri dropped to one knee, palms pressed to the dirt.

  Toneri (desperate):

“Please… I beg you. I haven’t come to fight. I need your help.”

  Naruto (cold):

“After what you’ve done? Why should we trust you?”

  Toneri (lowering his head):

“Because I know the truth… about why Asmodeous destroyed the worlds of Alternate Naruto and Hinata… and of Madara and Kaguya.”

Sasuke’s eyes narrowed. Kakashi’s single eye sharpened.

  Toneri:

“It wasn’t chaos. It was punishment. Aria blessed them. Shibai feared their bloodlines could defy him. So Asmodeous erased them… and now their sons, Yuta and Ryouta, live in this fragile timeline.”

Naruto’s fists tightened. Sasuke’s face was unreadable.

  Toneri:

“I was a coward. I pretended to be a god. But now… I only wish to save one person — my queen. The one Sylus died for. Aria.”

  Naruto (after a beat):

  “…You’re not forgiven.”

  Sasuke:

“But we don’t turn away those who ask for help.”

  Kakashi (quietly):

“That’s what makes us different from gods.”

The three lowered their stances — not in trust, but in acknowledgment.

  Naruto:

  “Talk. From the beginning.”

The sky rumbled. Far above, the moonlight thinned… as if the heavens themselves were listening.
