Are you kidding me?

  "What?"

Xu Lun was stunned. He couldn't figure out what the girl just said, which sounded not like Chinese.

  "Tuske... Kudase..."

The girl repeated it and this time even grabbed his arm with the other hand as well.

But Xu Lun still didn't get it.

The lights around this weird place kept flickering, turning the environment once bright and then dark many times, which was really annoying.

But the next moment, a disturbing noise caught Xu Lun's attention.

It sounded like there was a group of people whispering some non-sense words, like a bunch of shamans chanting together.

The sound seemed to come from above.

Looking up, Xu Lun was stunned, seeing a scene that he would never forget for the rest of his life:

From the windows upstairs, which were once bright and then dark because of the flickering lights, a dark human-like figure was showing up at each one.

They could be spotted over the entire wall of windows.

Those dark figures were totally blurred and their faces remained unknown.

But it just gave you the strange feeling that they were watching you, like Gods watching human beings from high above.

Or perhaps, they were looking at something in the same direction as Xu Lun.

Xu Lun turned his head immediately and looked at the girl with pink hair.

It seemed that somewhere on her forehead was injured and bleeding, covered by a messy fringe.

On the pale face, the brown eyes, with the reflection of flickering light, revealed a piece of helplessness and despair.

"They're coming for you, right?" Xu Lun asked.

The girl was slightly moving back, seemed in panic, and then nodded.

  "I see."

Xu Lun picked up the open-face helmet and put it on the girl's head without any hesitation, fastening it for her quickly.

"Leave it to me!" he said in a serious way.

"God finally turned an eye on me! I've been waiting for 24 years, and today it's my turn to be the chosen one!"

Xu Lun suddenly became more excited than ever, full of energy and momentum. He grabbed the girl's one hand, ready to take her for a ride.

  However, the girl refused.

"No time to explain! Come on!" Xu Lun reminded her.

He pulled her again, but the girl still refused.

  What's going on here?

Xu Lun felt a bit embarrassed.

Before he could figure it out, the girl suddenly grasped his left hand with so much force and said carefully:

  "Hontoni...Gomennasai..."

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

  What the...I...

Now Xu Lun did understand what she just said.

Thanks to those manga and anime he used to enjoy a lot.

  Xu Lun suddenly noticed something:

On the wrist of his left hand, which was grasped so tight by the Japanese girl, it seemed that something had been added.

Unfortunately, the lights all around were flickering to make his eyes dazzled and Xu Lun couldn't figure out what it was at all.

Before he could come to his senses, in the next second, the girl suddenly let go of his hands and without looking back...just ran away?

Xu Lun stood there in a daze, completely confused.

He quickly turned his head to look back.

At first sight he didn't think so much, but it immediately stunned him on the spot.

Only to see those dark figures that were previously standing behind the windows upstairs now gradually crawling down from the wall...

Yes, although they looked like some kind of humanoid creatures, they actually crawled on the walls like...like Spider Man or considering their dark appearance, more like Venom.

Once they landed on the ground, they stood up like humans again, but the overall appearance still seemed extremely strange.

Even more strange, they seemed to pay no attention to the girl who had run away but instead taking a straight look at him.

Was it because of this? !

Until then did Xu Lun think of the extra thing being added to his wrist.

This was put on by the girl who had just escaped. Obviously, he had been fooled by her.

  "What the...hell!"

At this moment, Xu Lun felt like falling down to hell.

"I, Xu Lun, have never done anything wrong in my life. Why treat me like this! God damn it!"

He wanted to shout out. But before that, he needed to take the thing off his wrist first. While doing that, he found that it was shrinking to being tight automatically, as if it didn't want to be removed. It seemed to be so sticky to his skin, leaving no space between the skin and the inner circle of the thing.

Meanwhile, the dark figures started to move and became closer to where he stood.

That left him no choice but to power up the scooter and make a quick getaway!

  "Whoosh!"

All in a blink of an eye, he rode his scooter, rushing out and following in the direction that the Japanese girl had fled, at full speed.

The wind screamed next to his ears, and Xu Lun turned his head to look back.

Those dark figures just stood there, and seemed to have no reaction to his escape.

However, in the next second, they all suddenly turned their eyes to trace the path where Xu Lun was running.

Although those creatures didn't have real eyes, they could sense the movement of things.

Just having a quick check to see if those creatures would hunt him, Xu Lun turned his head and continued to ride his scooter faster, rushing out of the dark street.

Soon he came to a street with much better brightness, making a turn at the corner of the street, and then stopped, looking around.

He didn't see the girl's figure which made him feel so disappointed and angry.

Fine, don't let me find you out!

His first thought was to call the police. But gave it a second and then he wondered whether the cops would believe him or not?

Just as he was thinking, the whisper like a shaman once again caught him up from behind.

The street lamps on both sides of the road, as well as the lights in shop windows, began to flicker more and more rapidly.

Xu Lun knew that it was a sign of those dark figures approaching.

It was not easy to get away from them.

Xu Lun assumed that those dark figures were harmful because the Japanese girl's forehead was bleeding. So it was better that he would not be caught up by them.

Xu Lun didn't have time to think much. He had to keep running.

To get away from the dark figures, he wished to squeeze into a crowded place.

But it was already midnight now. There was no man hanging on the street, and all the street shops were closed.

Apart from the row of cars parked by the sideway, the main road was very empty without any traffic.

Even if he occasionally came across one driving on the road, Xu Lun would quickly pass it from the side and dared not ask for help from the driver at all.

He heard the strange sound made by the dark figures echoing above his head.

Even when the scooter's speed had reached the limits, leaving the wind behind, the disturbing sound was still able to catch up and got closer and louder.

The lights on both sides of the street began to flicker rapidly, and even the street lamps not far ahead seemed to be affected and started to flicker one by one.

All of a sudden, a borderless darkness had come up right behind Xu Lun, as if it would swallow him up in the next second.

Xu Lun quickly stepped on the pedal, and the handles of the scooter were almost sparking due to the rapid friction from his tight grip.

But this scooter had already run at full speed. No matter how hard he tried on the handles, it just couldn't ride any faster.

Just then, one of the dark figures seemed tired of the hunt game and swiftly traveled through air over his head and rushed to the front.

All the lights turned off instantly, leaving everything in the darkness.
