[Rachel, Our Hare MC!]
[Mental Acceleration] quickened Rachel’s mind as the gold and scarlet globes in the sky filled her with energy. Confused mumbles swept through the thousands of girls that Nia had saved, and Rachel moved to kneel beside Scarlet, whose eyes were closed as she breathed peacefully with a slight smile on her face.
She looks at peace… Hopefully, she’s reconciled with The Oscillation and what she is now. Where is Illa, though? Everything about Illa is clouded in fog… Why? Cássia…
Straightening, she rubbed Thalia’s head as the blue-flaming teenage hellhound drew close to her and tugged her dress to get her attention. Her sisters were pulling a confused and scared 13-year-old girl out of the crowd. Many of the surrounding girls took more notice of the cute pups and the resurrected brunette.
Hades and Persephone’s gift for taking care of their dogs?
“Umm. Ahem. What do you want with me, puppies—where am I?”
Rachel walked forward to greet the bewildered daughter. “It’s okay, Cássia. Your mother should be here shortly. Do you…remember anything?”
The girl’s frightened brown eyes looked between everyone. “No, eh… Not after my mom turned into a vampire. I mean, I, uh, I don’t know,” she mumbled, now even more terrified at possibly outing her mother as a monster. “I just—where’s my mom? Mom!”
A cyclone of blood brought the imperial-looking woman; only, the facade was shattered upon seeing her daughter. Falling to her knees, crimson tears leaked from her eyes as Elizabeth wrapped her into a hug and held her tight.
“My beautiful little girl! You’re alive…you’re here!”
“Who—M-Mom? You look so… What’s going on—where are we… Who are all these people?!”
Rachel’s throat constricted upon catching the girl’s white teeth; Cássia didn’t have fangs. Her eyes should have given it away to her—Cássia wasn’t a vampire.
Elizabeth moved her head to give her a thankful smile. “Thank you, Rachel. You’ve kept your word.”
“More like we brought her soul back, but sure, give the hare the credit,” Thalia huffed, getting a bump from her red-furred sister.
“Aww, don’t be a grump; we were good puppies!”
Aleka’s green flames strengthened. “Plus, it’s more like Lady Persephone wanted to do something nice for Rachel since she’s taking care of us… Where’s Nia?”
“Eeep! Major, don’t tell them I’m here!”
You’re hiding? I think they know, Rachel laughed as their flaming eyes fixated on her. You should make them your subordinates. Teach them to respect rabbits, soldier!
Strength budded within her living outfit. “You know what, you’re right!”
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
The girl materialized in sparkling light and pointed at the hounds, now fully focused on the bunny girl. “Listen up, soldiers. You’re in the rabbit hole now! That means I’m the boss! I’m the boss… Umm, Major, I don’t think they’re listening!”
Thalia bent low, tail wagging furiously and having tunnel vision on the bunny. “You got the right, Aleka?”
“If Irida has learned what the right is this time,” she growled. “She’s a slippery one, so don’t let her get past you, tomato head.”
The red-headed sister snickered, raising her butt like a cat and wiggling it a little. “Don’t worry about me, broccoli brain. I’ve got my nose on her!”
“Uh-oh.”
“A game of tag!” Thalia shouted, and Nia took to the sky using [Lunar Grace].
“You’ll never catch me!”
The four vanished in a trail of fire as Coral cackled after them, the horror slime bun floating out of the crowd to latch onto Irida’s tail.
Rachel left the thankful mother to her daughter as she talked her through the sudden change and prepared to recreate her castle.
Caution soon set into Rachel’s heart, her ears standing straight while scanning the whole floating island. She looked for anything that might help her overcome the dread of not having all the pieces of what had happened to them.
Her fingers brushed against the tattoo on her bicep as it burned a little; the triplets were using the full extent of their restricted powers to chase Nia. It would be a good bonding experience…hopefully. Organizing everything she remembered after tapping into the Black Moon, she mapped out the missing parts.
Athena is taking over for Cerridwen. She’s been taken by…something. I need to go to the World Tree to discover more. I…died. Scarlet’s Seed took control…and killed me. Was it the Scarlet Hand’s work? I think Anthony has more information. I went to Hades and met its rulers—that’s for sure.
Her head tilted to get a better broad angle of the three triplet pups, tails wagging and enjoying the chase while zipping through the air in a blaze of fire. Their howls were heard throughout the night, likely pricking the ears of the recovering werewolf and wolf Mythickin and Legendkin.
This isn’t just some vacation for the girls…Persephone and Hades are watching through them. Izanami drew the two in with bait, and I hooked their interest. Maybe Persephone wanted to send them to help me handle Izanami’s challenge to get Yseress on my side… I could at least use their knowledge of Hell.
Her eyes snapped to a gasp that was heard from the nearby girls; a bloody room materialized high above them, falling into the hole that had been the castle.
“Elizabeth, watch Scarlet—”
“It isn’t a problem,” the woman soothed, following her gaze. “Interesting things are ahead.”
A flash of light preceded the rumble of thunder, and the surge of electricity charged the air beside them. Anthony appeared in a trail of sparks, holding an unconscious Harper.
“Anthony! Is she okay? Wait, why are you…holding her?”
“She’s fine,” he laughed, looking tired while falling to one knee. “It’s a story we should have in private… I feel like I’m the one missing a ton of context, though. Any trouble?”
Ears sweeping the throng again, she slowly shook her head. “Some vampires are lying low in the shadows, and there are some injuries, but Maria and Fiona are flying toward us—shit, why does everyone need to be rescued? Anthony, watch Scarlet.”
Power flooded her muscles as she heard a curse from inside the crater; Red appeared out of a swirl of mist. [Lunar Grace] provided platforms for her to maneuver in the air as she rocketed toward the Fable soldier; it would be good to have her in her debt, even if only a little.
Soaring into the open space, her eyes widened upon seeing the graveyard across from them; the mist was blocking all sound. A figure was seen at the edge, but she couldn’t make them out from this distance before she disappeared.
Kastilla made it out, huh…or is it her mother? No, I…feel like her mother is dead. That’s trouble. Elizabeth is back at her full power, though.
