Emilio continued testing his Skill with the girls. It was a really good Skill to have as it allowed people to trust each other. But there was more to the Skill than that. It also worked as a communication tool. Breaking the contract did no damage, that meant that it also worked as a method to send a one way message.

  It seemed underwhelming given that you could also send a text. But considering Tuor’s reaction, it should work with him after the Trials finishes and that can’t be done with a cell phone.

  There was also another reason why it could be valuable, and that was when you couldn’t use the cell phone. It could be in emergencies, or a case like when Amelia entered the Trial for the first time.

  They tested Amelia's claims of her being able to stop the Skill both with her Body and Energy. The skill was stopped and the Mind message with the contract was forcefully erased. Emilio didn’t have any kind of backlash, but it did stop the Skill from working.

  It also worked in the same way if Amelia didn’t accept the contract, but the dissipation of the contract was way less violent. The difference was that one was the normal rejection of the contract and the other one was a forceful rejection of the energy inserted in her body.

  They tested the same things with Victoria, but she could only stop the contract by rejecting it and was not able to destroy the contract in her body. This obviously had to do with the Stats. Amelia’s Body and Energy were higher than any of Emilio’s Stats and that allowed her to forcefully stop the Skill.

  Emilio also tried to make a contract between Victoria and Amelia, but he couldn't. He had to be one of the parts on the contract. He also couldn’t make a contract with more than one person at the same time. It was evident the Skill was heavily limited, but it was also just a Rank 1 Skill. And pretty powerful for that Rank.

  In the end, they decided to keep some contracts enabled. They were for emergency communications. They designed them as a one way contract that you weren’t allowed to will them to break. Given that breaking a contract worked in a completely subjective way, it worked perfectly.

  They tried to convey extra information with the link when the contract was active or breaking but it was to no avail. The only information that was transmitted was the breaking of the contract.

  Either way, they discovered a loophole. Emilio could add details to the contract that were not part of the breaking conditions. It was supposed to work like that to add possible consequences of breaking the contract. With a little bit of tweaking he could design a contract that was: Amelia agrees to not will this contract to break. Breaking it means that she needs help.

  It was simple, but effective. They decided to make a contract for help; one for I need you, but not urgently; one for emergency help; and 3 that were meant to say that everything was good.

  They decided to make them in two ways, once with Amelia as the one binded by the contract and once with Emilio being the one who could break it. Amelia also insisted that Emilio should do the contracts with Victoria too. She didn’t have the high stats that they had and was more vulnerable. This added another contract between Emilio and Amelia where he notified her that Victoria needed help.

  In the end, Emilio had 19 active contracts in his head, and all of the broken ones that hadn’t dissipated yet. What was surprising is that he could identify all of them at any time and was not burdened by the information in his head. It was weird but it worked just fine. He could even focus on something else and it wouldn’t bother him at all.

  After all the tests, the trio went to the restaurant that was reserved for the night. It was another fancy one, and this time they had a private room, meant for business meetings. Not only that, but Milagros was there together with another person they hadn’t met before.

  “Hi Emi, this is Joaquín, one of our employees and an expert video editor. He edited today’s footage.”

  “Nice to meet you, I’m Emilio.”

  “Same. It is good to finally meet the person who revolutionized the whole company.”

  “That was not really my fault, but I see you have high clearance.”

  “What did you expect, he saw all of the footage,” Milagros interceded, “Amelia was not too hidden in there was she?”

  “Well, she was the one trying things out,” Emilio admitted.

  “I already signed the confidentiality contract. I was also told that I have to sign a contract that has to do with a Skill of yours. Not that I was planning to share anything. It is not easy to have high level contacts.”

  “He is the first person we chose for you to have a contract with. Many more will be waiting in the office,” Milagros explained.

  “I might as well tell you what we discovered so far.”

  Emilio explained what he found experimenting with the girls and their tests. In the meantime, the rest of the table arrived and they were all interested in the Skill, especially when they discovered it could be used to send emergency messages with just the mind.

  After he got everyone up to date with his Skill, Emilio signed three simple contracts with Joaquin. The first one said that he wouldn’t share any confidential information from KimTec. The other two said he couldn’t share information that had to do with Amelia or Emilio. They also did a temporary lie detection one to check if he had already shared information or was planning to do it. After that they ended the contract by lying about his name. It seemed excessive for someone who already had high clearance levels, but he was not bothered. He had done nothing wrong and had no problem in giving peace of mind to a powerful person with privileged information about the System.

  While they were dealing with this, the food arrived. It was an assortment of gourmet dishes. After leaving the food, the staff was instructed to leave and not enter the room. After all, this dinner was full of confidential information that could not be leaked.

  Joaquín had brought the edited video of the footage, but they decided to leave it for after dinner. They also discussed an arrangement of contracts for Emilo. All of them decided to have the same six contracts that he had with Amelia and Victoria, with a few added ones. Both Gabriela and Rafael wanted to know if any member of their family needed help, and Milagros needed notifications for all the people at the table. At the same time, she added three extra contracts about needing to talk with her without any urgency. That way she could call as soon as she could.

  All of this made 43 new contracts that Emilio had to make. When he was doing the last ones he was starting to feel mentally tired and the Vitality did nothing to heal that even if he tried to focus it with his Skill.

  “I seem to have a limit on contracts I can make. I am starting to feel mentally tired here.”

  “Do you want us to postpone the rest of the contracts for today?” Milagros asked.

  “Actually, I would like to know exactly how many I can do. I want to know the real limit.”

  “I will add someone to take care of you in case you need it after the contracts. For now, let’s check the recordings. Joaquín, show us your work.”
