Chapter 30. Clash (2)

Azrael controlled Nergalsu and Marbala while simultaneously raising the

ever-growing piles of corpses on the battlefield into wraiths. Their numbers

surpassed the hundreds, then the thousands. Like a tidal wave, they surged

  toward Gilgamesh and Thalia.

Gilgamesh shredded the approaching wraiths with dazzling swordplay, grinding

them down like a living crusher, while Thalia used Ginsu’s purification magic

to blast away the wraiths that closed in on her with successive explosions of

  light.

Meanwhile, Eshiel was pouring every last bit of flame he could muster into

  the Egg of Bennu.

Cracks spread across the shell with sharp cracking sounds, and at last, in a

burst of red light, a burning bird sprang forth from within.

It was the birth of Bennu, the immortal bird.

As Bennu rose into the air and beat its wings, its body began to grow larger

  and larger.

Soon it had become a gigantic bird over ten meters in size, radiating intense

  heat in all directions.

Bennu let out a piercing cry and spewed molten, lava-like flames toward Eshiel.

Eshiel absorbed every bit of the fire.

Then, slowly, he raised his bow and drew the string.

As the full power of his life gathered into the arrow, a flame arrow of

staggering size took shape. He aimed it at Thalia.

Riana poured all her remaining strength into Eshiel, and the arrow blazed with

  even fiercer light.

Sensing the abnormal surge of power, Thalia created dozens of red barriers

and stacked them layer upon layer in front of herself.

With a shout, Eshiel finally released the arrow of annihilation.

Having escaped the gravity hell, Abarkash hurriedly intervened, piling dozens

of sand shields in front of Thalia’s defenses to reinforce them.

The arrow, growing ever larger as it flew and incinerating everything in its

path, rushed toward her like a colossal calamity.

As Marbala dispelled Abarkash’s sand shields one by one, Thalia created even

more red barriers, stacking them ceaselessly before her.

When the arrow of destruction struck the red walls, they shattered one after

  another like glass cases.

The blast radius was far too wide to evade.

And at last, the arrow reached its target.

  KRAKOOOM!

With a massive explosion, sparks flew as if the sky itself were being set

  ablaze.

As the smoke and flames slowly cleared, the outcome was revealed.

Standing before Thalia was Ashurgar, holding his shattered sword, with a

massive hole torn through his torso.

Thalia had barely survived by wrapping the final barrier tightly around

  herself.

The body of Ashurgar, the stone giant, bent in half and began to crumble apart.

He gradually shrank, returning to his original form.

In the end, what remained on the ground was the human body, severed at the

  waist.

Thalia stared blankly at his fallen corpse, then bit down on her lower lip.

Blood streamed down and dripped onto the ground. She did not wipe it away.

Having unleashed such tremendous power, Eshiel staggered, and Bennu shrank

down into a tiny fledgling, perching on Eshiel’s shoulder.

Meanwhile, Gilgamesh smashed through all the walls of light and stepped out.

Thalia moved to his side and fixed the enemies with a cold stare.

Gilgamesh’s pale face twitched as he spoke in a flat voice.

“I’m tired of this. Let’s end it.”

As he poured power into it, brilliant blades of light flowed from his golden

  sword.

At the same time, ominous red light poured from Thalia’s staff.

It was a hopeless battle, yet the five siblings steeled themselves and prepared

  to face them.

Just as Gilgamesh was about to strike, something went wrong within his body.

His waist suddenly buckled, and he began coughing up blood.

Inside him, the vengeful spirits of the Nephilim started to rage.

Their resentful wails assaulted his ears, and searing pain tore through him.

Seizing the opening, the five siblings launched a simultaneous attack.

Elaton charged forward, while Tamar’s vines and Eshiel’s arrows flew toward the

  collapsing Gilgamesh.

At that moment, Kashirgal stepped in to block them. Blue frost poured from his

  mouth.

When he expelled the icy breath in an explosive blast, a massive wall of ice

  formed, completely stopping the attack.

Startled by the sudden cold that froze everything around them, the five

  siblings quickly retreated.

Kashirgal’s body was beginning to fracture.

His armor-like flesh cracked with sharp sounds, blue light leaking from the

  gaps.

His voice grew rough and distorted, no longer sounding human.

“Thalia… take the king inside the city. I’ll… handle this here.”

“You will never regain your humanity, Kashirgal…”

“The one who gave honor to me and my troops… was the king. Grant him

  victory… grrr… go, Thalia…”

Supporting Gilgamesh, who was barely holding himself together amid the

rampaging spirits, Thalia formed a small magic circle.

As the circle glowed red, the two vanished from sight in an instant.

Kashirgal began to roar. His body completely collapsed, and from within it

another form burst out, swelling explosively.

Blue light and numbing cold spread in all directions, blurring everyone’s

  vision.

Soon, the shape of a gigantic lizard clad in bluish scales like armor emerged.

It was so large it seemed to surpass the city walls themselves.

A colossal dragon that wielded cold and ice—

that was the true form of Kashirgal, the Beast King.
