Chapter 41: A Mirror of The Soul, My True Enemy

  Alia

I appeared in a really dark place. Black all around me. I frowned as I realized this was not the opening area to Muosil. Instead, a figure appeared in front of me. She was.. Perfect…

I attempted to summon my bubble rifle. When it didn’t appear I tried to swim towards her. I couldn’t move, yet I felt utterly calm and at peace. “Nya! You are so silly! Alia can’t move in the death zone!” The figure said. Her perfect form spoke inside my head and brought me to tears with how beautiful each word sounded, yet all together they sounded wrong,

I stared at her as I floated in the darkness. After a long moment she continued. “You are upset at Hero.. aren’t you?” The voice's calm words pushed my rage down that was bubbling up.

I sighed and nodded. She tilted her perfect head and asked “What would you do, to make him see you?” I paused at that and considered. As I did, I looked carefully at the perfect figure, she must be very powerful to move in this place…

“You are very strong.” I said simply. I felt.. Confusion.

“Tama believes she is very strong, yes.” She said after a moment.

I smiled as a plan came to mind. Fine, we didn’t need Sapphire anyways.. This girl was perfect! I pointed at her.. Or tried to but nothing happened. I stated what I wanted to say anyways. “Surrender now and submit to Hero! You will be a great asset! You can even have second place under me!”

I felt an overwhelming sense of amusement emanating from her. I attempted to clench my teeth, but nothing. Also, the rage wouldn’t come. “Sorry, Tama can’t do that, but Tama can help you find more people for your Hero…”

I leaned in as she trailed off. There was a long moment of silence and I felt.. Doubt… fear.

After a moment it was gone and she continued. “What would you do to please the Hero, Alia?” Tama asked me.

I smiled and spoke the truth. “Anything”

She seemed almost.. Sad at the answer. I don’t know why, it was the perfect answer! After a moment everything around me vanished.

I appeared standing on the recliner of judgement? Looking around I saw I was the only one there. Suddenly I heard a loud flapping and turned to see.. Drake! Wait.. it was Drake..

But it wasn’t.. My Drake. On his back stood.. Me?! “Surrender now!” She cried out from the back of the dragon as she summed her bubble rifle. I summoned mine and smiled. Drakey breathed fire at me, but I pointed my bubble gun down and fired as I jumped. I was pushed into the air.

I turned away from Alissa the Exoitc Dragon Tamer and fired. I was blasted towards her. Drakey went to move. I stopped firing and landed directly on his head. Kissing his snout I whispered “Sorry Drakey.”

Using my now summoned pistol, I fired directly into Drakey’s brain causing him instant death. I was tackled from behind as Allissa screeched at me and we both began to fall. She punched me and I giggled. Instead of punching her back, I hugged her and began to spin.

She tried to push away. I let her and she began spinning faster outside my grip. I fired my bubble rifle while spinning, causing me to go haywire in random directions and slam hard into the recliner.

I pointed the rifle down and fired again, this time going straight up until I reached the top where I landed safely back on the recliner. I smiled as I jumped back and tensed. With Drakey gone, it was just me and her. I would prove I was the superior version and first wife.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

I waited until she summoned another dragon and flew up before jumping off and landing in front of me. The taxi dragon flew off back to the kingdom and she recreated her bubble rifle.

She was still a mini-boss as Hero had put it, while I was now a player. That meant three things.

I summoned my bubble pistol, pointed it at my own head, and fired. After a moment, I respawned right where I expected too. At the lego castle across the minefield from the recliner.

I stepped out of the lego castle and looked up at the recliner. I watched as she summoned the dragon Taxi and came for me. I turned to sniper mode on my rifle, laid down, and waited for the right moment.

Right as she hit the midway point, I fired and hit my target. The Dragon taxi fell into the mines dead, Alissa managed to jump off, but it was too late, the dragon hit the mines setting them off.

Alissa managed to dodge most of the blast, but was still hit and was thrown into more mines. She quickly created a bubble that popped and sent her thousands of feet in the air.

I counted down the seconds until she could summon her taxi again. 29.. 28.. 27.. She wouldn't make it. She landed directly on a mine and was ejected forward by the exploding mine. To her credit, she managed to only set off three mines before she landed. Beaten and bruised, at the edge of the minefield on my side.

Walking casually up to her I created my pistol and pointed it at her head. She giggled and looked up at me with.. devotion…

I froze and my hand paused on the trigger. After a long moment, I lowered the pistol and leaned in. My voice cracked slightly as I spoke. Channeling my inner Hero, I said “You did good… Hero controls you now.”

I winced as I watched Alissa instantly begin to convulse in pleasure as she rolled around on the ground moaning. Was.. was this how I acted?!

I mean.. He was Hero, he was everything but.. Aliisa had finished shaking and was climbing to her knees. She bowed her head to me. “Oh Hero! You have defeated me and I am yours forever, please claim me so I might be yours!”

I felt.. Disgust. That kind of devotion was for.. Was for the Hero.. this was Heresy! But.. but to her I was the Hero? Hero’s words echoed in my mind.

I looked at myself.. No.. what was me once upon a time and all I felt was pity.

I swallowed and after a moment, I leaned in and held out a shaky hand. “Get up, we have to go.” She looked up at me with adoration and devotion. I felt sick as I realized this is what Hero saw me like.

His response in Muosil.. He wasn’t unimpressed with the fight.. He was disgusted with… with.. I pursed my lips as Alissa took my hand and stood tall.

“Yes Hero!” She said ecstatically. I just looked at her, then after a moment I sighed and felt something I hadn’t truly felt in a long time… defeat. Turning, I looked towards the Emerald Kingdom and considered how long it would take me to get back.

Then I remembered how Hero had converted himself into a cube and teleported. It looked painful.. But it was Hero… right? I pursed my lips as I realized something horrifically sad.

Turning to Alissa I spoke simply. “Alissa, summon your Dragon Taxi, we are going to the Emerald Kingdom.” She complied instantly and I, not for the first time, wondered why Hero hadn’t done that.

He was Hero! He had his.. His reasons…My thoughts trailed off as I climbed onto the taxi dragon and we took off towards the Emerald Kingdom. With the Dragon Taxi, the whole trip was only a few minutes and there was no crushing cube… Why.. why did Hero crush himself into a cube to teleport?

While Hero was existence itself and perfection incarnate, he made.. Strange decisions that never made sense to me. “Oh great Hero! May I get the whips and chains ready for our wedding!” Alissa cried out excitedly, She was holding onto me from behind and her breasts were poking me.

She thought.. believed .. I was Hero and was.. I remembered the hallway and what I had done. I clenched my teeth and shook my head. I pushed her back. “Don’t put your body against me.” I snapped in disgust.

We landed in the emerald kingdom and jumped off. The town square was a mess, Ruby, Sapphire, and Hero were standing by the fountain talking to each other. “A Fake Hero!” Alissa hissed as she summoned her bubble rifle and pointed it at Hero.

“Fake.. huh..” I said quietly as I grabbed her rifle and pulled it from her hands. She looked shocked.

“Hero… He is with me. Do not attack.” I said weakly. This.. this is what it felt like to be like a Hero huh? To be.. The Player?

I was starting to understand why he hated everyone and everything.
