Things at the guild had been a bit quiet for the first time in awhile, ever since that new dungeon appeared things have been nothing but madness. First the dungeon itself, then the guild master speaking with it and making a deal, and then the kobolds moving through the whole place. Now though everyone has started to settle into the new normal of the town and are getting back to work. My team and I on the other hand have been stalling on what to do for awhile now, especially since I touched the dungeon core. This strange….thing that keeps speaking to me, this [System] as it calls itself has been eating into my mind ever since it first appeared. I can tell the others have noticed but they are giving me some space about it, they probably think my sense is acting up right now. I don’t blame them, for the duration of our travels there are times when it flares up bad and I have to settle for a bit.
This is different though, and I can’t tell if they can tell, since this is something I haven’t even read about, let alone heard of it. It’s strange in a way that I can’t describe and can hardly comprehend, yet it is extremely simple when I look at it. It holds a startling amount of information about myself, though it seems rather simplistic aswell.
Name: Ava
Race: Elf
Level: 20
Energy: Mana
Secondary Energy: [Aether]
Class: Mage
Affinities: Ice, Earth, [FATE]
Skills:
Conjure Ice: (Class)
Manipulate Earth: (Class)
Identification: (Intrinsic)
Looking at all it was showing me hasn’t really made it easy to tell what is happening. More importantly, what was this Identification thing under skills. What was a skill even? or [Aether?] or [Fate?] I have to clutch my head slightly after reading those last two, the words feeling like hot spikes poking into my head for a fraction of a second. It would hurt more if it lasted longer, I was thankful at least that the pain was short, though I wish it wasn’t there. That aside I really have to think on what they could mean. It understands fundimentally that I am a practiced mage, and that I favor ice and earth. That doesn’t tell me much though, beyond that it can observe me in a way and understand what I do. This is getting frustrating, I wish it could be clear.

Skills:
The condensed understanding
of how to use certain abilities.
As a mage, your skills are skewed
towards spell casting and the ability
to weave mana into attacks and defenses.
[Addendum]
Your Skills conjure ice and manipulate earth
have been brought over due to your
own talent with the abilities
thus this system has not added
or removed any knowledge of how
to use them.
I blink a few times as a new...box? Appears in front of me, detailing information I was sorely looking for. It was surprising but also extremely revealing seeing that it was willing to give something to make it easier to understand what is happening to me. Reading the description a few times and this [Addendum], another word that hurts a little to processes, makes it clear that I am not starting from zero with these “skills.” Thankfully it seems this system is amenable to the years of study I had put in over my life.
“Something up Ava?” Venos was looking at me with a bit of concern in his eyes, he seems more worried then usual but I just shake my head.
“just thinking over what happened at the dungeon during our last check over. Something just not sitting right is all” I hope he doesn’t probe much deeper then that.
“It was definitely changing rather quickly, far quicker then it really should be at this stage.” Orkus chimed in between sipping a strong drink. “it would be more worrying if it was a less cooperative dungeon but this one seems amenable to working together at least.”
“I don’t personally like that a death aligned dungeon is allowed to be so close to the town” Venos almost hissed out before catching that little tick. “It’s bad for anyone trying to go through it and the fact that their spirits could not be allowed rest is disturbing.” He always had the most reservations of the three of us.
I nod before wondering back to the system before something else catches all three of our attentions. A figure in a black cloak stepping into the tavern area of the guild, not an odd or even uncommon thing to happen, but there was something different about this one. An energy in the air that didn’t match their look, and I could feel my sense in the back of my mind screaming at me. For once I was inclined to agree, something about this man was unsettling. What didn’t help was that he was heading right for us.
