B1 | Bonus Chapter Jade Lily POV

THE ADVENTURES OF A WHITE LILY

  ?????????????????

In the outer layer of the forest, you can see multiple species living together.

There are ferocious bears with white spikes growing on their bodies, hordes of merciless wolves, and an army of spiders lurking in the shadows.

In the middle of that, there is I.

  Lily, that's my name.

I was born as a lizard in a small group. However, from the moment I was born, I knew I was different from the rest.

Not only was I born with unique white scales and enchanting pink eyes, but I also possess noble dragon blood with a high grade of purity.

It is thanks to that, my intelligence is superiorto that of my peers. Even my name comes from my bloodline’s innate knowledge.

The other lizards are already smitten by my charisma, and they try to earn my favor from the start.

Eheh, I obviously am destined for greatness.

  Wait. Who, is that?

At some point, I notice a shabby black lizard walking in the distance.

His body still has egg fragments on it, clearly proving he just hatched recently. He has beautiful golden eyes, but for some reason they look out of focus.

I recognize him, it's a black colored lizard, the rarest kind of lizard, even more than me.

However, they are usually considered a symbol of misfortune, so it seems nobody is happy with his existence. That's why he is alone in a corner.

  Hmm.

I don’t believe in stupid prejudices, so if he begs to become my underling, I might accept him.

I decided to call him Blackie.

Unfortunately, he was unable to approach me, as the adults returned and took us with them.

  Sigh, he is really pitiful.

The forest is really huge, even someone like me finds herself lost in a daze looking at uncontaminated nature around us.

I especially love the sky, with its seemingly endless beauty and the sun radiating with pure light.

I'm not the only one, even the other lizards are looking around excitedly, well, not everyone, the unsocial black lizard is simply looking straight ahead, as if there's something in front of him.

  Weirdo.

Oh, I notice someone going to him, an orange lizard, one of the most common of the group, he is probably going to talk or maybe play with him.

  Eh?

Wait, why did he hit him?

It seems prejudice is worse than I thought. I didn’t think he would treat him this way.

I think I should try to stop him, but before I could act, he tried to hit him again but this time he dodged and even counterattacked with incredible ability.

  Wow.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

I underestimate him. He has more grit than it looks.

After that, an adult came to stop them before it escalated. However it scolded him especially even though it was only self defense. For some reason it really annoyed me.

Even when the stupid lizard tries talking to me, I don't feel like listening to him.

Suddenly, however, that was no longer important, as a horde of spiders appear in front of us from the shadows.

After that, it was pure chaos.

We were able to hold on for a while, but then we could only run in fear from the assault of these malevolent creatures.

I was terrorized, as I flee from two spiders who look at me as if I was already dead and a potential meal.

“I don’t wanna die. Take the black one, he is way tastier than me.” I try shouting in desperation, but they only chase me even more tenaciously.

Just as I was losing hope, I saw some are climbing big trees to hide from the enemy.

I didn't hesitate, the second I spot a tree I immediately started climbing to save my precious life.

Nevertheless, an unexpected turn of the events occurs. I see someone jumping from the tree, it possesses rough back scales, a slender yet slightly muscular body and golden eyes filled with an unbreakable will.

  Blackie.

I don't believe it, but he jumped from the tree and is drawing the attention of the spiders while running. Don't tell me he did it to protect me.

While he disappears in the distance, I hear him roaring to attract their attention to him.

I was speechless, I never thought he would sacrifice himself to save my life.

I don't remember what happened after that, I only remember crouching in hiding and sobbing in the corner.

Only when one of the leaders of the pack calls us do I get out of my hiding place.

I arrive at the scene, but the scene of blood and dismembered corpses fills me with unease.

And the moment I regroup with the rest, I notice we were far fewer than before. I notice Blackie isn't here, filling me with immense guilt.

  He died.

He died because of me. Because I was too weak to do anything.

I followed behind the group as we go to safety, but unlike the first time I no longer look at the view around us.

I can only see ahead of me, lost in my thoughts.

  This is the worst.

While we were walking, a savage boar charged at us from nowhere.

His strength was roughly the same as the adult protecting us, but he was gravely injured in the previous battle, in particular he lost an arm in the fight with the Rank 2 spider.

In the end we could only run again, while he stalled the enemy for us.

We found refuge in an isolated cave, hoping to rest in peace.

Unfortunately, today the Gods seem against us, the cave was inhabited by a swarm of voracious rats, who immediately went to attack us.

Why? why is this happening to us.

It's not fair, I no longer want to helplessly escape.

I decide to fight back, the moment a rat tries to bite me, I respond by biting first and then hitting him with my tail, just like I see Blackie do.

Maybe after seeing me fight, or maybe for some other reason, even the others decide to react and fight back. For a moment we were able to resist, but we were already exhausted and the enemy had an overwhelming numerical advantage, so defeat was inevitable.

I will not give up, I prefer to die fighting than to die as prey.

As I fight, I barely noticed a layer of white aura forming around my body or the fact that my physical abilities are higher than normal.

That no longer matters as a filthy rat blocks my way, he is slightly stronger than the others and I have already exhausted all of my stamina to continue fighting him.

In the next second, he subdues me and I realize my death is near.

But I'm not scared. Maybe because I gave everything I had or for a motive I don't even know.

The thing I know is that, for some reason, in my final moment I can only think of that strange lizard.

I close my eyes, waiting for my end to come.

  …

I wait for what feels like an eternity, expecting death or agonizing pain but I feel nothing.

I am confused since I should already be dead, so I open my eyes to check and I'm shocked beyond words of what I see.

Translucent black scales, sharper claws than any other lizard and a powerful body to hunt with the body of the leader rat at his feet.

  It's him, I don't believe it.

Not only is he alive, but he has also grown stronger and bigger than I remember.

Until now my vision of him was a weird but brave lizard, but this side of him is completely different, it's like a natural predator instilling fear in his prey.

This was the moment that would change my life forever, in a way I could never expect even in the future.
