  I am Rai Shin and I’m here to show ‘electromagical hacking’ with the focus on the ‘electro’ part. My academic skills are lacking, but I hope that someone can help me with this.

  What does this mean? Is it the thing Agnis and I did to that machine in Jarn?

  The witch raised her eyebrow. “Electromagical hacking? Never heard of that.”

  A strange shiny dagger floated up and stabbed her. It didn’t seem as if she noticed.

  “Actually, there had been a policy that came out quite recently. The headmaster wanted us to be more up to date with the rest of the continent, this might be one of the first steps. I don’t understand what your field entails, but it could make Mishaspire into a better place. I will approve it for now.”

  Huh? I thought this place was called Witchaven.

  “That was the old name yeah, but only other races call us ‘witches’ and having an important city named ‘Witchaven’ didn’t help, so it got changed to Mishaspire.”

  Oh right! Agnis told us that they call themselves Misha and not witches.

  That makes a lot of sense.

  “Anyway, it’s likely that you’ll get through the other checks after this one. I can see on your ID that your qualifications are low, so make sure to not embarrass yourself as you can still get kicked out.”

  I got let through. I wanted to give Agnis a thumbs up, but it seems Giana and him had already gotten into trouble as 3 important looking witch…Misha were talking to them and escorted them away.

  There were many checks. They tried to find out if I was really a Misha. I got nervous, but the test came and went and I passed. These illusions sure are handy!

  I got stopped halfway though.

  “We can’t let you through unless you pair up with another Misha. We have lowered the bar for academic capabilities but only if the Misha work in pairs. Do you have a Misha in mind that has an adequate academic background? Else we will choose for you.”

  Another shiny dagger floated up and stabbed the Misha.

  “Oh, we actually have found someone, her academic skills are high, but her field is redundant or doesn’t have the facilities to aid her. Silk Rabbitfoot, you will get paired up with… Rai Shin? What an unusual name…”

  Yvonne in her disguise tripped and knocked down the Misha that was talking to me. “I…I’m sorry!”

  “I hope her clumsiness won’t hinder you. We don’t have anything to aid her field in creating robes or fashion that allows for movement. It’s on the agenda, but it might take decades before we get there, so she will help you out in the meantime.”

  “N…nice to meet you, Rai Shin. I…I’m Silk.” We shook hands awkwardly. I suppose we’re supposed to pretend that this is our first meeting?

  I’m Raishin! Everything will work out fine!

  Yvonne seemed to still have a dagger floating next to her. I had already used up 2, but she still has the only one she got initially… this is not fair…

  “I…it seems as if we have to w…work together for now. Where did the other two d…daggers go?” She said as she pointed at the last one.

  They stabbed the Misha I was talking to…

  Maaan! That took too long!

  “W…we have to share a house… W…what would Greg think…” Yvonne didn’t seem happy with the situation, but I don’t think Greg would think anything of it…

  Wait! Forget Greg! Noelle will kill me!

  What do I do? I will not survive this, will I?

  “Oh, hey Rai Shin!”

  I turned around, and it was Noelle in her disguise.

  Wait Noe… Melody, I can explain!

  “You don’t need to explain anything. I know exactly what’s going on!” She walked over to me. “Make sure Yv doesn’t hurt herself, as I’ve seen her trip over 20 times. I’m counting on you.” She patted my shoulder. “Silk and Rai Shin, nice to meet you, I will have to check out the house I got assigned, you should do so too, cya!” Noelle waved and headed off.

  She’s not mad or upset?

  “S…she trusts you and u…understands the situation. Let’s go.” Yvonne was about to trip when I pulled her up.

  This feels wrong…

  We followed Noelle’s advice and went to find our house. I wonder how long we will stay here.

  “N…no, I think we need to go t…this way!”

  Is that our house?

  It took forever, but we found it! But wow, it looks boring!

  How come ours looks so boring and the others seem so cool?

  I said as we stepped inside.

  And its empty! Where is our stuff?!

  “T…this is how things go… W…we don’t have any stuff… we need to b…buy them or find Giana and Agnis.”

  Agnis doesn’t have furniture anymore, it all got destroyed in the elven village.

  “D…destroyed? Elves?”

  Yvonne seemed interested in our time with the elves. Have I turned into the story master of our group?

  Yvonne dragged me shopping while I told her about how we spent years in an elven village because Agnis’ spirit kept leaving his body, and we had to hide from a crusade against us. And how I thought Elliana lightning magic and how Greg learned elvish magic. It again felt wrong as Greg should do this, but Agnis did tell us to get the other chicks better.

  I collapsed on the floor of our new home.

  So… tired!

  Yvonne’s aura changed, just like the elves do. “This place will become fabulous in no time! You’ll see!”

  Yvonne got to work. Where does she get all that energy from? And what am I supposed to do? Do I need to hack things or create things and then hack them? Is Yvonne supposed to help me in that? Maybe I should help Yvonne out first…
