Initiation

Kagura's transformed state allowed his body to freely move around Teus and his weaponry. His shadow body could morph into different shapes at will. Teus tried punching Kagura when he saw an opening, but his fist went right through the young Eximi's body. Kagura countered with a powerful strike from his hammer. Kagura kept up a relentless pace and rushed in again and again.

Kagura: This is so cool! I've never felt so free!

Whenever Teus tried to block with his shield, Kagura morphed around the shield to land another hit.

  Kagura: I'm invincible!

Teus: *cough* Like that, your physical body is created from scratch by your Ousia. Your Ousian Type is intangible, so no ordinary attacks can damage you.

Kagura: Hehe! So you can go ahead and quit now.

Teus: There are two important lessonsI'll teach you before we go to Headquarters to start your paperwork.

Kagura: What? You can't touch me, there's no way I'm losing!

Kagura ran forward and was blinded by a flash grenade Teus used. Kagura's eyes were in extreme pain.

  Kagura: AH! What the hell?

Teus: Lesson one: You take on all of the strengths of your element, but also it's weaknesses. Being made of shadows makes you much more vulnerable to light.

Kagura: Mother- how long is this going to last!?!

  Teus: Lesson two...

Teus struck Kagura dead in the stomach and sent him flying. After crashing through a tree, Kagura rose to his feet.

Kagura: You shouldn't be able to touch me!

Kagura wiped his eyes and charged Teus again. He was surprised that now, Teus landed completely normal strikes at will. The gap in skill being made evident, Kagura was forced to stay back.

Teus: ... Pure Ousia can still touch you. I'm able to manipulate my life energy just like you are, I just don't have any elemental power.

Kagura was forced to rethink his strategy for the fight. Rather than rushing forward as usual, he had a moment of maturity.

  Kagura: I give up.

Teus: Smart man. May I ask why?

Kagura: Just because I figured that there must be a ton of powerful people in the military besides you. If I meet stronger people, I'll find a way to surpass them all!

Teus let out a loud laugh at Kagura's answer and eagerly accepted. Tsubaki was not sold on the idea of Kagura joining the military at all.

Tsubaki: Sir, do you think that I could volunteer to proctor the next exam?

Teus: Sure, why do you ask?

Tsubaki: I just want to get some more volunteer work this year. It might help me get closer to my next promotion.

Teus: I love the initiative! Alright guys, let's roll!

The trio got into Teus' squad car. Kagura was surprised because he had never been in a car before. As they drove across the countryside, Kagura was in awe at the different ecosystems then drove through. When they finally got to the military headquarters, Kagura was required to do a ton of paperwork. The entire process took three hours. Being incredibly impatient, Kagura couldn't wait to leave the building and start doing cool military missions.

Teus: Slow down there son, we have plenty to do before you can get sent out to the field.

  Kagura: Huh?! Like what?

Teus: Well I need to show you around the facilities here, and in our main prison sector. We have sixty days to complete that.

Kagura: Well let's go now! Let's go let's go let's go!

  Teus: Alright, alright. Let's begin.

Teus had Tsubaki show Kagura around the Headquarters while he took a nap in the car. Tsubaki went through each of the facilities necessary for Kagura to remember quickly so they could leave. Kagura and Tsubaki were exhausted after a boring day of walking around and paperwork. As they slept in the car Teus drove to the transfer outpost.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

The transfer outpost was just outside of a massive desert. It was a place for military personnel to safely arrive at the maximum security prison. Teus drove through the gated checkpoint and down a long line of helicopters. He picked up the young teens and gently put them inside the helicopter.

Kagura woke up mid flight on complete astonishment.

Kagura: We're in the air! This is so cool!

Teus: Hey there sunshine. We're about halfway to the prison so about another two hours give or take.

Kagura: Why couldn't we just drive there? Is it all that sand?

Teus: No, the terrain isn't too much of an issue. There's a toxic gas that hovers abovr the ground and one of the most dangerous creatures on Gaia lives down there: The Desert Demon.

  Kagura's eyes lit up.

Kagura: That sounds powerful! Can I punch it?

Teus: You'd get one shot in before you died. All three of us would die if we tried to drive through the desert. Even outside of that gigantic monster, this desert is swarming with smaller creatures that would tear you to shreds. And without them, that gas wouldn't take too long to cripple us all.

Kagura was barely even paying Teus any attention. He had his face pressed up against the glass, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Desert Demon. Suddenly, Kagura caught sight of a massive Helion exploded from the depths of the desert.

  Kagura: Wooooooooooah!

Kagura instinctively tried to open the door of the helicopter. Before he could, his arms were wrapped up by thick metal binding.

Tsubaki: What do you think you're doing?

Kagura: Aww come on, look at that thing! I gotta fight it!

Tsubaki: You're an idiot you know that? That monster can chew right through my metal.

Kagura: Well.... your metal isn't intelligible like my shadows are.

Tsubaki couldn't even bring herself to speak and just shook her head. Teus responded from up front.

Teus: Intangible, your shadows are intangible. And that monster could definitely still chew you up.

  Kagura: Wait what?

Teus: Yep. There are a handful of giant creatures across the world. We do our best to keep our cities and civilians far away from them. The threat they pose is far greater than anything you can handle right now so seriously, don't do anything stupid. Those creatures were transformed by the Towers scattered across the planet, they aren't that different from Eximi.

Kagura: I know you guys are trying to convince me to not fight these things, but you are failing miserly.

Teus: *sigh* maybe one day you'll be able to take one on. Tsubaki, keep him restrained.

Tsubaki: I could just toss him out there. Would certainly ease my headache.

  Kagura: I vote plan B!

Teus just shook his head and continued flying the helicopter towards the prison.

  Teus: Not too much longer.

When they finally arrived, Kagura was released from his restraints. The headquarters was a massive establishment that housed the majority of the military personnel. It was surrounded by an electromagnetic field to keep the toxic gas and creatures at bay. Underground was the prison. The HQ prison was gone to the most deadly and violent criminals on Gaia. The center of the gigantic deathtrap of a desert was the perfect place to keep inmates. Many had attempted to escape across the desert, but none ever made it.

Kagura marveled at the inside of the highly advanced building. Tsubaki was once again his guide on the inside as Teus had business to take care of. Walking through the halls, Kagura noticed that nearly everyone in the building spoke to Tsubaki as if they knew her.

  Kagura: You sure are popular.

Tsubaki: I get called in for part time work here every now and then.

Kagura: Really? What kind of work do you do?

Tsubaki: I'm a part time security member. I go inside the prisoner sections and help keep them under control.

Kagura: You gotta take me inside!

Tsubaki: If I take you in there, hopefully it's in handcuffs.

Kagura: Aww don't be like that! There's bound to be some tough dudes in there!

Tsubaki: You're sick in the head.

Kagura continued following Tsubaki closely with an attitude. She turned and bowed to a man dressed in a nice suit.

?: Hello Tsubaki, how are you today?

Tsubaki: Hello sir! Things are going well. I'm showing this new recruit around.

Kagura: Hi there man, what's up!

Tsubaki held Kagura's head down with her immense strength, forcing him to bow.

Tsubaki: Please forgive him sir. Like I said, he's new. *whispering- show some Damn respect idiot, he runs the entire military*.

?: Oh no that's quite alright. Nice to meet you young man.

Kagura: Ooooh so you're a big shot around here! So, could you let me outside so I can fight that Desert Demon thing?

?: I'm afraid I can't let that happen on my watch young man.

Kagura: Aww whatever. One day, I'll be strong enough to take care of that thing.

?: I believe it. When that day comes, I'll gladly take you out there myself. Good luck! *shakes Kagura's hand* Tsubaki.

  Tsubaki: Yes sir?

?: Do you have his ID number? I'm going to go ahead and add him into the official registry for the next round of recruits.

Tsubaki: But sir! He's got to go through a ton of training and classes before that. He needs to go through the four year study course first.

  Kagura: Four years?

?: I think he'll be fine with taking the next exam. It should be around twenty six months. I believe in him. You and Teus teach him well alright?

Tsubaki: We'll do our best sir.

Tsubaki wrote down Kagura's ID number for the man before he walked off.

Tsubaki: Airtight troublemaker, we've got to find Teus rig- are you alright?

Kagura stood still, looking at his hand.

Tsubaki: Look, you'll get a chance to fight that Desert Demon later. Right now, you need to focus on-

Kagura: I don't care about the monster.

Tsubaki: What are you talking about?

Kagura: That man is strong too... I'm going to take him down instead!
