Two

Marina marched forward with a bloodstained knife, trailing her fleeing victim. She had locked her prey in a cold, dark room. It was an old storage room the Futurists used to keep records of the prisoners. After they all died out, there was no need for all of their files. The room was filled with rows of shelves filled with paperwork.

Marina: You won't escape me, no matter what!

In the dark room she was in, the blood trails began to cross over each other. She could tell that her prey had tried to move over the same area specifically to confuse her.

Marina: You're pretty smart, but I'll still catch you.

Marina heard the door handle to the room jiggle and immediately turned to throw her knife. She launched the knife with deadly accuracy. Marina had positioned herself far from the door, but still within a line of sight for that exact purpose. She had hoped that the sound of her footsteps getting far from the only exit would help her find her target, and her plan worked like a charm.

Her knife hit her target and she heard the thud of the body hitting the ground. After that, the room was dead silent as she crept towards the doorway. As Marina turned, she saw that her prey was hit, but not killed by her blade. She lowered herself, kneeling on his arms and taking a handful of the bright blue hair that adorned his head.

Marina: Finally caught ya, you little freak.

Raioten was pinned under Marina, silently crying. His body was lined with cuts from her initial sneak attack.

  -Moments Prior-

Marina asked Raioten for his help when the Warden gave her boxes full of paperwork to bring into the storage room. Trying to be helpful, Raioten dropped off multiple boxes by the time Marina dropped off one. When she brought hers, he motioned for her to stop and ran back and forth to collect the rest.

After he stacked all of the boxes in a large stack, Marina showed him the shelf to put them all on. As Raioten began stacking them, Marina locked the door and walked behind him. As he kept stacking boxes, Marina lunged forward, her blade aimed at his neck. Raioten was too quick however, and was able to move at the last second.

He wasn't even sure how, but he felt something closing in and moved to the side. As he tried to run, Marina ripped her knife from his back and slashed his leg. Their game of cat and mouse began. Marina began to yell at Raioten as he ran off.

Marina: Did you really think you could get away with killing my husband? He meant EVERYTHING to me!

She followed his blood trails, trying to catch him off guard. Due to her quick thinking, Raioten was drastically slowed down by her initial assault. That made it easier for her to catch him and make multiple more cuts before he was able to get away. She tried to hide near the doorway but was puzzled when Raioten didn't go for the door for awhile. It was then that she came out of hiding and saw his twisting blood trails.

  - Present -

As Marina yanked his hair forcefully, she began to rain down powerful strikes from her right hand. She was so furious that she was able to somewhat ignore the look of pure dread and despair in Raioten's eyes. Marina wailed on him until his face got bruised and cut from her powerful strikes.

She turned around and ripped the blade from his side. The tears flowed from Raioten's eyes as he shook his head, begging her with his expression. She used the back of the knife and ripped into the left side of his chest. Not using the proper side of the blade made a horribly jagged cut and caused immense pain.

Marina ran her blade over that same area again and again. Raioten couldn't bear the stinging pain and mustered the rage to toss Marina off of him. She kept her knife in hand, fully prepared to end Raioten's life.

Marina: You're nothing but a monster! I'll kill you for what you d-

Before she could finish her sentence, Raioten attacked her with a flying kick. Her entire body felt like it was paralyzed by the raw power he possessed. As she crashed into the shelves behind her, paper flew all around.

Marina couldn't move to defend herself as she watched Raioten running towards her. When she looked into his practically glowing blue eyes, she knew he was ready to kill. He began to unleash a maelstrom of pure carnage onto Marina's defenseless body. He began by grabbing, and ripping at her throat, causing severe blood loss.

Marina:(This is how it ends huh? You knew I didn't stand a chance didn't you, Warden?)

Raioten continued throwing his punches with reckless abandon. His arms were moving so fast that Marina couldn't even see them coming.

Marina:(I'm sorry Yasu, my love. I couldn't avenge you. And I'm so sorry Tor. Mommy just wanted to give you the best life she could. Please forgive me.)

Marina could feel her life fading and summoned all of her strength for one final act of defiance. She released all of her anger in one deafening shout that Raioten could hear over his own roaring and his strikes.

Marina: I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!

Hearing her words only enraged Raioten more. He punched and kicked her face until there wasn't even a face left. The Warden, who had planned this early on, sat back grinning at his security cameras.

He had one more obstacle to Raioten's progress that he wanted to get rid of. As Red was fighting off prisoners, the Warden approached her and immediately put an end to the fighting. He put on an award worthy acting performance to get her attention.

Warden: I need your help quick! It's Marina!

  Red: Marina! What happened?

Warden: She got locked in a storage room, this way!

The Warden took off in the direction of the storage room, with Red following closely behind. When they got close the Warden pointed out the door.

  Warden: There! That one!

He stopped running as Red sped past him. She looked to see that the room was sealed with a pretty solid metal door. The Warden looked on with a grin and began to walk back to the observation room. Red steeled herself and struck the door with all of her might, blasting it off of its hinges.

When she got inside, she immediately noticed the blood that decorated the floor. Red turned to see the body that she instantly knew was Marina. Her hand instinctively covered her mouth to quiet her cries of anguish. After taking a moment to compose herself and silence her own screams, Red forced herself to look. Marina's skull was nowhere to be found, and her torso was mangled to a disturbing extent.

One of the only parts of Marina's body that wasn't marred was her hand, which kept a tight hold on her knife. As Red began to quiet down, she could hear a faint sound. As she followed the sound, she noticed a trail of blood looking more fresh than the rest. Red could recognize the sound as she grew closer to its source.

She knew that it was the sound of someone sniffling, just as she was. Her face twisted with rage and then pute sadness when she turned the last corner to see Raioten. He was curled up in the back corner; his eyes painted with fear. Red was close to lashing out at him for what he had done, but it didn't take long for her to see his injuries.

She could tell that his cuts were made from a knife, and that all of the blood trails must've been his. With tears flowing freely from her scarlet eyes, Red kneeled down in front of Raioten. Her face was almost mannequin like, completely blank devoid of emotion. As she spoke, her voice trembling with sorrow and wrath.

Red: Don't you dare lie to me.... please. Just tell me that she tried to kill you first.

Raioten nodded. Red wanted to trust him, but needed one final test. She rose to her feet and wrapped a hand around his throat. She pushed Raioten to the wall behind him and lifted her fist.

  Red: HOW COULD YOU!?

Raioten's first instinct was to cower in fear instead of immediately fighting back. Red lifted him up to her and hugged him tightly.

Red: I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I should've been here, we should've stayed together from the start.

Raioten was too afraid to move much, so he just sat still in her arms.

Red: Please, if you feel like you can't trust anyone, trust me. You can always trust me, I swear!

  He remained silent and motionless.

  Red: Please say something, ANYTHING!

Raioten lifted his hands up and tightly grabbed on her shirt. He spoke one word to her. His delivery was so broken and raspy that she could barely hear him over their crying, and it broke her heart.

  Raioten: sorry.

The two of them cried together for awhile. The Warden was unhappy with their reconciliation, but a part of him enjoyed it. He began to think of ways to utilize their connection to make Raioten and Red more powerful assets in the future. He called over an assistant.

Warden: Rush Project Eclipse immediately. I want it complete as soon as possible, do you understand?

  ?: Yes sir!

Warden: This isn't over young man, not by a longshot.
