Welcome to Undulsa!
I came to lying on my back in a dark cave. The mouth of the cave provided just enough illumination that I could vaguely make out my surroundings. The dark stone cave I found myself in had a round section, of which I was in the middle of, with a thin passage way spilling light into the interior of the cave. The floor in a six foot radius around me was utterly flat with a distinct border where the naturally rough rock floor resesranlished dominance. The sheer quarter inch wall that bordered the natural and clearly unnaturally shaped stone was an odd sight. I finally sat up with my head pounding the sharp ice pick like pain in my temples reassuring me that what I was experiencing was real, and unlike anything that I had- I realized then that I had no memories from before waking up here. I could remember my name, Hillie, how old I was, 23, and that I was a human male, but I had no recollection of where I came from or of the 23 years I had previously lived. I could remember how to do certain things, but not how I had learned them. Basic skills like how to tie a shoe, simple knots, and how to cook simple meals that arrived in boxes. I looked myself over to find I was naked luckily it was a comfortable something degrees so I wasn't cold nor hot. I shakily got to my feet my muscles feeling weak and almost atrophied. I wondered about my condition and some sort of window popped up in front of me.
Condition-
Health: Healthy
Limb condition: No injuries
Status effects: Migraine - "Concentration skills and spells are forty percent harder to use due to the debilitating pain in your skull." Duration: - 1:58:38
Reintegration Sickness - "You are physically weakened by the Reintegration. Strength and Endurance - 2." Duration - 1:23:58:38
Startled I stumbled back from the sudden intrusion of my field of vision. I recomposed myself before scoring over the text within the window again. Nothing new jumped out at me, but I felt a strange familiarity with whatever it was that was telling me my physical condition.
I rummaged around in the odd feelings until I got the inclination to pull up something called a "Character Sheet", and willed it to pop up.

I stared over the deluge of information in front of me. This bizarre thing laid out what I was in detail even going so far as to list my skills. My physical state was explained by the two zeros where my strength and Endurance scores were. I opened my Skills List and was washed with an innumerable number of skills some of which I had proficiencies in, but they were all mundane such as
Tying shoes

And the list kept going with the vast, vast majority being greyed out and unreadable. I looked for some way to filter the list and a smaller window appeared with different parameters I could set to filter the immense list of skills.

Compared to the list from before my current list was quite small, but contained a lot more useful information. I apparently had basic survival skills as well as the skill that had appeared on my Character Sheet. The Character Sheet only showed class relevant skills, but I had the option to pin particular skills to my Character Sheet should I feel it necessary. For now I left well enough alone. Next I pulled up my Spell List.

I only had the one spell, but it was better than nothing. The cave mouth laid ahead of me streaming in a blinding light. Shakily placing one foot in front of another I wobbled my way to the mouth of the small cave I found myself in. Once outside and my eyes had adjusted to the mid day sun, I laid my eyes on an expanse of trees forming a lush forest of oaks. Somewhere in the distance I could make out a larger than average clearing where faint white smoke rose from. I looked around at the sun to see it past the midway point in the sky. I had no idea how I knew this, but I just did. I started carefully making my way down the slope, but I lost my footing and tumbled down the stone laden slope. Finally after an agonizing handful of seconds I came to a stop at the foot of the hill in a bloody and scuffed heap.
Condition-
Health: Healthy
Limb condition: Sprained wrist, Light lacerations (all), Light bruising (all)
Status effects: Migraine - "Concentration skills and spells are forty percent harder to use due to the debilitating pain in your skull." Duration: - 1:55:24
Reintegration Sickness - "You are physically weakened by the Reintegration. Strength and Endurance - 2." Duration - 1:23:55:24
My Condition Sheet showed I was overall healthy, but my wrist was sprained and I had cuts and bruises all over. I picked myself up one limb at a time slowly bringing myself to a standing position. I clutched at my wrist as I stumbled forward to where I had last seen what I hoped to be a civilized town.
After an indeterminate time I stopped and attempted to fashion something of a loin cloth made of leaves, a loin leaf if you will, and had limited success. As long as I stood still you couldn't even see anything though the moment I take a step I was on full display. I shrugged having spent too much stamina on it as it was. Suddenly rustling came from some distance away. Panicked I reached for the only defensive tool I had and prepared the only spell I had. It was instinctual and easy, but puzzling as I had never even tried to cast it in the time I had been awake. Shadows coalesced into a dark puddle between the bush and I. Suddenly a beast burst from the bush leaping towards me with a multitude of claws extended. I loosed my spell which caught the beast in the sternum halting it's momentum save for further impaling itself on the spike of solid shadows. The casting of the spell left me even more exhausted than before, but with my life still intact.
Congratulations you defeated a lvl 3 furbear. XP earned: 120! Bonus XP awarded for defeating a monster above your level.
I stumbled toward the furry corpse intent on field dressing the thing. The furbear was vaguely canid with a long slender snout, large paws, and a shaggy coat, though, that's where the similarities to wolves ended as the furbear had four eyes, six legs, and three tails. Each paw was tipped with sharp extendable claws. I hit my first hurdle in my lack of any cutting implements. No knives, swords, daggers, axes, or anything of the like.
I considered my toolset and came upon one possible tool at my disposal. I focused Shadow Spike on my fist. Shadow again coalesced, but this time around my clenched fist. I loosed the spell draining more of my mana and the shadows melted off of my hand. I gave my mana a moment to recover before trying again. I held my fist up again and cast. The shadows around me crawled up my body slower this time. When there was a ball of gelatinous shadow around my hand I loosed it, but immediately clenched the strange sense I had. The spike erupted from the blob, but stuck in place. I could feel a concurrent drain of my mana as I held it. Looking at the conical spike perched on my fist I willed an edge to form, the tip of the spike elongated into a full cutting edge down the side of the spike. I ran my finger perpendicular to the edge to test it's sharpness, and it was wickedly sharp.
I got to work relying heavily on my butchery skill to guide my Shadow Blade. I had to recast the blade several times due to the throbbing migraine still pounding within my head before the innate knowledge from the skill told me I had completed my job. Finally escaping my fugue state a notification waited for my attention.
Congratulations you have learned the spell, Shadow Blade by manipulating Shadow Spike.
Shadow Blade
Description - Quite the edgy spell, a blade made of nothing but the shadows themselves? Ok dramatic much?
Lvl 1

Before me lay a folded pelt, a pile of meat, a dozen sharp claws, and two dozen or so sharp teeth. The jibbly bits were also there, but I had no clue on how to prepare them. I found some large leaves from some shrubs and gathered the teeth and claws into makeshift pouches before hoisting the little meat I could carry in my weakened state and trudged forward towards the smoke. I had a vague sense of the cardinal directions currently I was walking northwards, walking being a generous description of the stumble fest I was performing. After my migraine finally faded I found it much easier to think and concentrate. After another hour or so according to my time remaining on Reintegration Sickness the trees broke letting me see a walled town. The sun was beginning to set and the orange hues of the sky were striking.
I neared the wall not seeing an entrance of any kind. I turned to the right and began walking along the wall all the while lugging a haunch of meat, the pelt, and my loot of teeth and claws. Finally a huge door emerged f
rom the rocky, grey wall. On either side of the door stood a guard with a spear. As I approached they leveled their spears at my chest.
