‘Taking in my surroundings as I followed behind Jaba, I noticed that this forest was quite dense, trees, trees, and more trees. Just trees as far as you can see, with overgrown bushes, and wild grass all over the place.
‘This is a forest in the truest sense of the word. With the sun shining through the tree line, and the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves, along with the sounds of some type of bird chirping a merry tune, it created a somewhat serene atmosphere.
‘So serene in fact, I can definitely picture myself building a nice little hammock and rocking away to sleep.
‘But before I could get lost in another fantasy of mine, Jaba abruptly yanked me down beside him, behind a bush that I didn’t even notice him get behind.
‘C’mon Jaba, can’t we be a little gentler here? A Goblin’s got a name, you know!
‘And as if somehow reading my mind, Jaba said...“Rick quiet… Hunt now.”
‘Jaba pointed at something beyond the bush we were hiding behind.
‘So, I quickly nodded at him and looked to see what it was. Oh… It’s nothing but a rabbit!
‘But why does it have a black horn on its forehead? You’d think the fact that I was a Goblin would be a constant reminder that I’m in another world where beasts are obviously REAL!
‘I’m a damn Goblin for Pete's sake!!
‘It was also at this point that I realized that our stone spears weren’t made with stone after all, but the horn of this rabbit instead.
‘Anyway, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, it’s time to see how Jaba’s going to hunt this little horned dude.’
???
While Rick looked on intensively, Jaba quietly emerged from the bush they were hiding behind.
He then slowly approached the rabbit, carefully and intentionally placing each foot, until he was just about forty-five feet away from it.
It was at this point that the creature turned around as it sensed the faintest of noise approaching.
It quickly spotted Jaba and didn’t waste any time baring its teeth at Jaba in a menacing manner.
The only thing Jaba did in response was to stand his ground patiently with his spear in hand.
Then, without notice, the rabbit suddenly charged straight at Jaba!
In a matter of seconds, the rabbit closed the distance between them and just as he was a few feet away from Jaba, he leaped up straight at him, with his horn looking more dangerous than ever heading straight for Jaba’s head!
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Then at a speed too quick for the rabbit to keep up with, Jaba sidestepped the leaping rabbit.
Then in one fluid motion, while the rabbit was still in mid-air, Jaba slapped him down back to the ground with his spear and immediately pierced him in the head, ending his life.
He then picked up his kill and walked back to the bush where he was met with a very shocked Rick, who watched the whole thing go down in intently, before rightly showering Jaba with a bit of praise. Which surprisingly to Jaba, made him feel quite good.
???
“Jaba, I don’t know what I was actually expecting from a hunt, but that was amazing! The way you jumped to the side and whacked the rabbit was crazy man!
“But…I have a sneaky suspicion you’re going to be expecting that from me too…”
“Good… Don’t worry…Jaba help.”
“I don’t know how you plan on helping but seeing as how I don’t really have many options and I’m the one who asked for this…I’ll trust you for now Jaba.”
“Good…Let’s…go.”
‘And with that, we strolled farther into the forest, keeping our eyes peeled for even the faintest signs of movement.
‘This continued for a bit, with little to no talking until we finally came upon another Horned Rabbit.
‘As soon as I saw it, I started sweating nervously. I mean I’ve never even been in a fistfight before, let alone hunted a rabbit.
‘How am I gonna do that crazy-looking sidestep thing?’
“Jaba, what am I supposed to do? I don’t know how to fight.”
“Stand...in front...of...rabbit...then...rabbit...charge...then...hear me.”
“Wow, first of all, that's the most words I’ve heard you say so far. Secondly, if I’m understanding this right, are you telling me you're going to let me know the right time to do the sidestep thingy?”
“Y…es.”
“You know I don’t like this idea, right? If I’m even a little bit too slow, I'll get skewered. You know that, right?”
“Yes…take spear…Now…go.”
“Guess it can’t be helped. I’ll be trusting you, Jaba!”
‘Even though I said I’ll trust him, I’m still sweating profusely as I approach my potential death. Turns out Goblins can really sweat…
‘Stopping at the same distance that Jaba was at for the first encounter, or at least what I thought was the same distance, I could see the rabbit behave just like the first one did.
‘It turned around and bared its little teeth at me. Like I was its most hated enemy, and it couldn't wait to get rid of me.
‘I stood my ground like Jaba did, albeit with a little shaking, then…’
BOOM!
‘The rabbit began its rapid dash towards me.
‘I could barely follow it with my eyes and before I knew it, the little thing was about to leap off the ground and that's when everything seemed to slow down for me. Is this how I die? Is my short Goblin life about to flash before my eyes?!’
“N..OW!”
‘Startling me out of my little imminent death trance was Jaba’s cue.
‘I then tried to jump to the side as fast as I could and to my surprise I fricken did it!
‘By a Goblin’s hair! But before I could revel in true happiness, Jaba yelled at me again to hit it, so I did just that.’
BAM!
‘Now to stab and finish it for good. Haha YES!! I got my first kill and most of all, I’m still alive!! I can do this!
‘Now that I think about it, even though I got some help from Jaba, that wasn’t very hard at all…I guess maybe my Goblin capabilities are better than I thought they would be? Can never go wrong with gang green. Ah, here comes Jaba to surely praise me for my efforts.’
“Good job… Next time focus.”
“Yeah, you're right Jaba, but now what? Do we just continue to hunt like this?”
“Hunt…more…rabbits.”
‘So just like that, we continued to go around hunting the Horned Rabbits left and right, with Jaba and me taking turns for each one. I eventually got to a point where I no longer needed an audio cue from Jaba, which was a proud moment for me, since I felt like it was really fast improvement.
‘Though despite my fast growth, some rabbits still managed to escape after I did the sidestep dodge thing and was too slow with my slash. It seems they weren’t too keen on drawn out fights.
‘Anyway, after hunting the last rabbit, we made our way home with our spoils, and then I immediately looked at my status. I was expecting to hopefully see quite a few improvements.’
