Chapter 1.1

In his bedroom after school, Sullivan laid atop the covers watching videos on his phone. One video showed a team of awakener in their suits exiting a dimensional rift. Having cleared all the pressing dangers within, a team of collectors with their carts and tools rushed in to collect whatever natural resources they would. The next video Sullivan watched was of an awakener's review on different growth supplements.

"Now, you all know I only have a C class aptitude, but I swear on my little toe these Zorrotech supplements have boosted me to B class."

Sullivan scoffed at the video and skipped to the next one. In this video a man in a dark room with a bulletin board covered with various notes, picture, and other materials belabored incessantly about the 'real' forces behind the occurrence of the dimensional rifts and how humanity was ushering in its own destruction by exploring them.

Sullivan decided he had watched enough mind-numbing videos and put his phone on the nightstand. Sullivan then walked over to a mirror and looked into his eyes. He had yet to commit himself to any future. All his peers had dreams and plans for the future; they had their future careers picked out and their backups. But what did Sullivan have? A dread for the passage of time. A fear of growing older and of the future. Sullivan felt a subtle despair looking at his gloomy face and forced a smile.
