The Hour Unseen

Growing up, I thought the world was filled with kindness and joy, but as I grew older, I saw the world for what it truly was a place filled with evil. And today was the day the world proved it to me.

My name is Jack, and I'm a research scientist not just any research scientist, but one of the best in the modern era. I've received countless awards for my previous work, and the project I'm currently working on will change the world as we know it because I've found a way to cure death.

After two sleepless nights at the lab, I finally made a breakthrough. I found what I was missing and managed to create a serum one dosage for a test subject. With this new discovery, death might no longer be a problem. I was stressed and tired, so I picked up my coat and decided to go home.

As I walked down the street, someone called out my name. My heart skipped a beat as I recognized the voice it was Joan, the girl I liked. For a long time, I'd been thinking of how to express myself to her, and today might finally be the day.

As she approached, I admired her beauty and became increasingly nervous. I didn't even notice when she caught up to me. As we walked together, I mustered the courage to say, "I like you." She smiled, and I repeated myself, "I like you." Her response sent my heart racing – she said, "I like you too," and leaned in for a kiss. We kissed and hugged.

I needed a cup of coffee to make sure I wasn't dreaming, so I asked her if she wanted one. She nodded yes. As I took a step back to get coffee from the café behind us, a car suddenly appeared out of nowhere, rushing towards her and spilling her blood all over the place. I was shocked as I stood there, seeing her lifeless body on the ground. The car did a drifting turn and parked. It was a black racing car, and the man looked at me through the window, winking at me. I became even more afraid, realizing he wanted to kill both of us, but I didn't know why.

Then I remembered I had a serum at the lab, just a block away, that could cure death, which could heal her. However, it hadn't been tested yet. I wanted to run to the lab, but I was frozen in place.

As I stood there, staring at her lifeless body and the man in the car, he stepped out, pointing a gun at me. I was terrified, wondering how to save her and myself, but I was paralyzed. The man smiled and fired the gun three times at me before entering his car and driving away. As I watched the car drive away, I memorized his license plate number. Then, I gathered every ounce of strength I had to try and get back to my lab.

As I struggled back to the lab, my heart was filled with misery, pain, anger, and revenge. I finally reached the lab, retrieved the serum from the store room, and thought of getting the serum to Joan to save her life. But I could feel my heart slowing down and knew that I couldn't make it to her in time, and it would cost both of us our lives. So, I injected the serum into my blood. Suddenly, I began to feel my blood boiling like molten metal passing through my veins. The pain was too much, and I started feeling dizzy, then I passed out.
