Chapter 29 – Multiple POV

  Christian:

I didn’t know where I was or who had trapped me here but I would kill them. This pce was driving me nuts. The only thing that seemed to give me a sense of time was the moons dancing above me. Moons. Not one moon but four of the damn things. What was even weirder was that one of the moons seemed to be orbiting a teeny tiny moon. Yeah, it drove me nuts the moment I saw it as well.

As I wandered around, trying various methods to leave, I noticed a few things about my celestial companions; they were each a different color. It was subtle but there. The three tiny orbs were red, grey, and blue. Then we had the brown one being orbited by a shiny silver color. Behind them all, dwarfing the group, was the golden yellow moon. Did this help me escape? Not in the slightest. But that just goes to show just how freaking bored I was.

  Victoria:

I curled up next to him through the night. Holding him as his body went from burning hot to ice cold. Only leaving when my mom threatened to physically drag me downstairs to eat something. The meal looked great, but I couldn’t taste it. Not with how fast I shoveled it down my throat. Eating just enough to appease my mother before rushing back upstairs.

This repeated itself for three days until finally, his body temperature stopped spiking. His temperature stabilizing meant he was through the worst of it. There was still a chance that something would go wrong, but it wasn’t likely to cause him to die. Kissing the dragon mark, I prayed that he would make it out soon.

  Christian:

Lying on the ground, I watched as, for the first time since I had arrived, the moons lined up. The rgest moons were further back while the small ones stayed in front. As soon as the st one lined up, each moon grew brighter as their color deepened.

The light red flickered between a deep blood red and a bright crimson. Grey became the color of the blue sky with patches of fluffy white. Each color changed, except for the golden yellow. That one just brightened as its light washed over the others.

A shaft of the colors fell to the middle of the ke. It was made up of a mixture of the colors above. Each moon contributed as its light interacted with the other moons. The water of the ke rippled out from this shaft. Waves pped on the grassy shore as I watched on.

Less than a minute ter, the shaft of light vanished as the moons separated again. The sudden plunge into darkness broke the spell the light had put me under. It was then that I decided to try jumping into the light. Not that I had any other ideas at this point.

  Victoria:

After the fifth day, I was constantly crying. Only stopping when I passed out from exhaustion. He was taking too long to come back. Worse of all, there had so far been no sign that he was even in there. That he was fighting to get back.

  Christian:

Today was the day. While I had missed the second conjunction. I had been badly positioned. When I realized the alignment had started, I tripped over a tree root and fell into the ankle-deep grass. This time I was on the section with my camp. The grass here was much shorter. On top of that, I could leap most of the way from the shore to the middle of the ke.

The moment the light started to fall toward the ke, I ran. My st step propelled me forward as my jump propelled me up. It was with a start that I realized my leap had taken me further than it had before. My body flew through the shaft of light feet first.

My vision turned white as my eyes were assaulted by light from all sides. Then everything went bck. Not wanting to see where I had nded this time, I just id there, feeling what I could with my other senses. Something was constricting my chest as a weight pressed down from above.

Smelling something I recognized, my eyes snapped open. Victoria y on my chest, her eyes open wide as she stared at me in shock. Then I passed out. Thankfully it was a dreamless sleep this time.
