Inside The Mysterious Building
04:45 AM
Sergeant Makoto raised his hand in a subtle gesture. “Gear check. Ready your weapons. Prepare yourself.”
Without hesitation, the soldiers moved into action. The mechanical sounds of preparation filled the air—rifles clicked and locked, magazines loaded with sharp precision, combat knives drawn and tested for balance. Straps were tightened. Radios adjusted. Sensor devices calibrated. Visors lowered. Every motion was practiced, fluid, efficient.
No one spoke. But they all understood what it meant to face the unknown.
Whatever awaited them inside, they knew there was no turning back now.
As they stood at the ready, the moment before entry stretched out, heavy with anticipation.
Finally, with a silent nod, Sergeant Makoto gave the order to move forward, and the team approached the entrance. As they prepared to open it, a chilling wind swept through the area, adding to the already tense atmosphere. Two soldiers began pushing it open, while the others raised their weapons—braced themselves for whatever awaited them behind the huge steel doors.
With a firm push, the giant steel door groaned as it swung open, revealing a dark, foreboding interior. Beyond the threshold lay only darkness, an inky black void that swallowed their flashlight beams. The silence was overwhelming, pressing down on them like a physical force. But there was no turning back now.
Sergeant Makoto motioned for his team to proceed, their footsteps hesitant yet determined as they crossed into the unknown.
"Stay sharp, everyone. We don’t know what we’re about to face, be ready for anything." Sergeant Makoto whispered from the middle of formation.
Every step echoed unnaturally in the confined space, heightening the eerie sensation that something unseen was watching them. The air inside was cold and stale, as if it had been undisturbed for centuries. A creeping sense of dread hung over them, tightening with each step they took. There are few flickering dim lights above of them.
It seemed as though electricity was flowing through this place. The dim, flickering lights illuminated the interior with an eerie glow. They began searching for the power source—or at least a switch, any switch—that might explain the unnatural illumination.
Not long after they passed through the entrance, Sergeant Makoto hesitated for a moment, his instincts screaming a warning that something was wrong. A cold shiver ran down Makoto’s spine as he tried to push aside the growing dread. However, he said nothing, determined to see the mission through and hoping that everyone would make it out safely.
Yet, something was waiting for them in the darkness, far deeper within the building..
Whatever it was, they might not be ready for it..
* *
As the twelve soldiers continued their advance into the building, an eerie, uncomfortable silence descended upon them like a thick fog. Every step they took seemed to echo in the vast emptiness, heightening their sense of isolation.
They cautiously moved through several rooms on the first floor, but there was nothing of interest inside. Not a single piece of furniture, equipment, or object could be seen, or any sign that anyone had been there recently. It felt as if the place had been abandoned for ages, leaving only emptiness behind.
It seemed the entire building was left desolate and hollow, with no traces of life. Yet, the air still carried a faint charge, like something unseen was watching.
"This place is really giving me the creeps." one of the soldiers whispered, breaking the silence for a brief moment. His voice carried a nervous edge, but he quickly added, "Stay alert, everyone." His words were a reminder of the unknown dangers that might lie ahead, urging his comrades to keep their guard up.
They continued their investigation, ascending to the second floor through a sloping, winding hallway—there were no stairs, no escalators, and certainly no elevators. The design was perplexing, and the soldiers couldn’t help but exchange looks of confusion as they ascended.
"All the floors are connected through sloping hallways. How could this be? Not even a single staircase. What a strange building." remarked another soldier, his voice low but filled with curiosity.
Each floor and room was connected in a strange, unconventional manner, creating the unsettling sensation that they were walking through a shifting labyrinth. The odd design only amplified the eerie atmosphere of the structure. The deeper they ventured, the stronger the feeling grew that this place was a trap, meticulously designed to confuse and disorient anyone who dared to enter.
Despite thoroughly searching all the rooms on the first and second floors, they still hadn’t found the power source powering the dim, flickering lights—or even a single switch. The three soldiers who had inspected the building’s exterior before they all entered had also found nothing.
"No power source outside the building, and there’s none inside either. How the hell are these lights staying on?" asked one of the soldiers, his heavy voice laced with frustration. His rugged beard caught the faint glow of the flickering lights as he frowned.
"Apart from no power source, there is also no switches for the lights anywhere. So where are these dim lights getting their power from? And how is it even possible?" added a female soldier, her athletic frame tense as she held her assault rifle at the ready. Her voice carried a mix of amazement and unease at the unnatural conditions surrounding them.
—
The windows in the building were sealed tight—none could be opened, as they lacked both locks and handles. Every single one of them was inexplicably immovable. However, there were several small holes for air circulation scattered across each floor—offering minimal ventilation—a detail that added an even stranger layer to the building's design.
The building looked ancient, as though it had stood undisturbed for thousands of years. Yet, as Sergeant Makoto silently observed, it was hard to believe that human hands could have built something like this. There was an undeniable aura that this place belonged to another realm, entirely.
An unsettling sense of unease crept over him. The lack of any logical explanation for the dim, flickering lights, the building’s peculiar and almost alien-like design, and its unknown origins gnawed at his mind. Every instinct screamed that an unseen danger was present, lurking just out of sight.
The oppressive atmosphere pressed heavily on his shoulders, but despite the suffocating tension, he and his squad had a mission to complete—to investigate this enigmatic place, even if it came at great risk.
"We’ll commence a retreat if we encounter any real danger. We’ll be fine." Sergeant Makoto reassured himself silently. He was determined not to put his team in unnecessary peril, yet the weight of responsibility pressed heavily on his shoulders.
The twelve soldiers meticulously checked each room and hallway, moving from the third to the fourth floor. Still, there were no signs of life or activity. Not a single object was to be found—not a chair, a table, or even a storage cabinet. The only sources of light were a few dim bulbs scattered across the ceilings, flickering weakly and casting ghostly shadows that danced across the stone walls.
The building architecture grew stranger with each floor. Symbols, unfamiliar and ominous, were etched into the walls, and the layout of the building became even more disorienting.
It was as though the structure defied the laws of earthly construction, challenging their perceptions of geometry and space. Every step they took seemed to lead them further from the world they knew, and deeper into the unknown.
"Something’s not right about this place." muttered the fourth soldier, his voice heavy with unease.
"Yeah, it feels like this place wasn’t made by humans." another soldier added, anxiety creeping into his tone. The strangeness of the building was starting to wear on their nerves.
—
The soldiers eventually made their way to the final sloping corridor that led to the fifth floor—the last floor they had yet to explore. The fifth floor, to their surprise, consisted of a single massive room, stretching out as far as the eye could see. It was roughly the size of a football field, with no walls or partitions to break up the space.
As they cautiously stepped into the enormous room, their apprehension grew. Every soldier felt the tension tighten around them like an invisible hand. The unsteady dim lights above barely illuminated the vast space, casting it in a pale, ghostly glow. The air felt dense, charged with an unnatural energy that sent shivers down their spines.
The silence here was oppressive—deeper, more suffocating than they had ever experienced, as if the room itself was holding its breath. Sergeant Makoto could feel it—a heavy sense of foreboding creeping up his spine, as though it was a warning that:
They had stepped into a place forbidden to humans.
A place they were never meant to enter!
"The structure of this place is just too strange, especially this massive fifth floor. This kind of space shouldn’t exist in the real world. There’s no power source, no switches... How is this possible? Is it some kind of illusion, a parallel world? Aliens, maybe? Or perhaps it’s a warning of something bigger, like a disaster waiting to happen." one of the soldiers said, his voice wavering with disbelief ashe tried to make sense of the absurdity of the building structure.

"Sergeant Makoto, I feel like someone—or something—is watching us. I don’t like this at all." the third soldier said nervously, gripping his weapon tighter. "We should report back and get out of here before things get worse."
"I feel it too. There’s something off here—this place has an aura that’s just... wrong." the sixth soldier added, his voice tinged with growing dread.
"This place couldn’t have been made by humans. No matter the era, no one builds structures like this." another soldier remarked, his voice trembling slightly.
"Something’s not right. This place is way too quiet!" a female soldier said nervously, fastening a flashlight to the side of her helmet. She cocked both pistols in her hands, click, click, before looking around warily.
She felt uncomfortable, as though something was lurking in the shadows, watching them from the darkness. The silence was suffocating, and her instincts screamed that they were not alone.
"Stay sharp!" the seventh soldier ordered as he cocked his assault rifle, click, aiming it at a distant intersection. His eyes narrowing as he scanned for any movement in the dimly lit, cavernous room. Every shadow seemed to shift, making him question what was real.
“I’ve got a bad feeling,” the eighth soldier admitted, his voice low and cautious. “We need to get out of here while we still can.” His eyes darted toward the dark hallway ahead, his senses on high alert as he took a tentative step forward.
—
As they moved deeper into the room, their pace slowed, each soldier hyper-aware of their surroundings. The soft sound of their boots on the dusty floor, the faint hum of the flickering lights, and the distant echo of their voices were the only sounds that broke the oppressive silence.
"Sergeant, I feel it too. There's something terrifying here. We should stop because we don't know what we're about to face." The tenth soldier voiced his concerns as he cocked his shotgun, sensing the impending threat.
These elite soldiers were not accustomed to disobeying orders or doubting their tasks while carrying out their duties and missions.
But this time, the situation was... very different.
They all felt it. Whatever awaited them in the shadows outside the reach of their flashlights, was far beyond what they had prepared for.
Their instincts screaming at them to turn back and run.
Because, they were not alone in this massive room..
As the chill began to envelop them, each soldier instinctively drew closer together, gathering into a tight formation. Their breaths grew shallow, their senses heightened, ready for whatever might emerge from the suffocating darkness.
Already in the middle of the massive room, the soldiers unconsciously formed a circular formation with Sergeant Makoto at the center, their weapons raised and scanning the surroundings with precision, leaving no gaps in their defense.
Moments later, the air grew colder, and a dense fog suddenly began to form around them. The mist thickened rapidly, reducing their visibility with each passing second. The soldiers shivered, their fear mounting as the freezing air seeped into their bones.
Yet, none dared to move an inch as their vision was obscured by the fog. The dim, flickering lights offered no solace, casting shifting shadows that only heightened their anxiety.
"Why is there fog here? What’s with this fog? We’ve walked through every floor of this bizarre building, and there hasn’t been any fog until now." said one soldier, a short but athletic man, his voice tense with confusion.
“Yeah, and the air wasn’t this cold on the other floors. It’s strange. Where did this fog come from, and why now? I haven’t picked up any movement or heat signatures on the detector since we arrived here.” another soldier added, glancing uneasily at the sensor device in his hand.
“More importantly, why did it appear just now? We’ve made it to the middle of this fifth-floor room, which is massive—about the size of a football field—and it was completely empty earlier. There was nothing here but this eerie void. That’s been true for every floor we’ve explored so far!” another soldier remarked, amazement and dread creeping into his voice as he tried to rationalize the sudden appearance of the fog.
—
“Sergeant Makoto, I think we should stop investigating this building,” a female soldier, carrying an assortment of C4 explosives, said hesitantly. Her voice was steady, but her unease was evident. “We don’t know what we’re about to face, and I’m not sure we’re ready for it if it happens. We should leave this place while we still can.”
As if responding to her words, the fog began to thin slightly, though it didn’t dissipate completely. The air remained bitterly cold, infused with a strange, inexplicable aura that seemed to weigh on their spirits. It was as though the fog itself carried a warning—an omen of something ominous and unseen drawing closer.
Whatever was coming—it wasn’t good..
Sergeant Makoto thought for a moment between ordering his team to retreat and pressing forward for the sake of their mission. But before he could make a decision, one of the soldiers gasped in surprise..
"Hey! What is that?" the fifth soldier suddenly shouted, his voice trembling with fear, eyes wide as he stared into the looming darkness ahead. His heart pounded in his chest, cold sweat trickling down his back.
"What? Where?" The other soldiers quickly shone their flashlights into the darkness, weapons raised, ready for action. Their movements were sharp, almost frantic, as they scanned for the source of their comrade’s fear.
"There! Over there!" the sixth soldier yelled, pointing toward a dark corner of the large room with his right hand. "There's something there!" His voice cracked with fear as the beams of light flickered across the unknown, illuminating only fragments of whatever lay hidden in the shadows.
"What's over there?" Sergeant Makoto asked tensely, his gaze scanning on the dark corner the sixth soldier had indicated. The tension in the air thickened, as though the entire dimensional labyrinth held its breath, waiting for something unexpected to happen. The other soldiers gripped their weapons tightly, prepared to react at a moment’s notice. Every breath they took seemed louder, echoing in the vast silence.
“Otani, check out what’s over there with your detection devices. You two, escort and guard him. The rest of you, stay on defense. If you see something hostile, report back immediately. Do not engage. Return quickly, and we’ll retreat to the entrance." Sergeant Makoto ordered three of his men to move closer to the dark corner, while the others maintained their positions, watching from a safe distance.
Few moments earlier, he had been torn between continue the mission to gather all necessary reconnaissance data for the sake of loyalty and duty to the country, or to simply call it enough, turn around, and get his team out of this place without further investigation.
Just a little more information, and we’ll get out of here soon.. he thought grimly.
As the beams of the three soldiers’ flashlights drew closer to the shadowy corner, something began to take shape. Large, towering shadows—many of them—but they didn’t move. The soldiers exchanged nervous glances, their breaths shallow and uneven.
“What… is that?” one soldier whispered, his voice barely audible, quaking with fear.
—
The shadows became clearer, revealing massive, stone-like structures that stood over three meters tall. Their light brown surfaces were covered with intricate, unnatural blue patterns that glowed faintly in the dim light. The strange shapes of these towering pillars gave them an unsettling, otherworldly presence.
“These aren’t just ordinary stone pillars,” another soldier muttered, his voice trembling. The sight of them sent chills down their spines, as though they had stumbled upon something forbidden, something never meant to be found.
"Sergeant, there are about a dozen large stone pillars here, scattered randomly. They weren’t here before the fog appeared. The blue markings on their surfaces… they’re unsettling. Maybe there’s something inside them, but there’s no movement—at least, not yet." reported one of the soldiers, his voice shaking as he struggled to process the scene before him.
“Yes, this area was empty before the fog came. Now, these pillars just appeared out of nowhere,” Otani added, confusion evident in his tone. He glanced at his detection device. “No signs of heat, life, or movement, Sergeant.” His mind raced, trying to connect this bizarre phenomenon to anything remotely logical, but nothing made sense.
The soldiers observing from a distance felt a creeping fear settle in their chests. Their hands trembled as they tightened their grips on their weapons. The oppressive silence, broken only by the faint hum of the lights, amplified their dread.
Sensing the rising tension, Sergeant Makoto barked out a command. "Stay sharp and be ready! We don’t know what we’re dealing with here!" His firm tone cut through their fear, restoring a semblance of order, though it did little to dispel the unease that weighed heavily on them.
Suddenly, a chilling aura enveloped the room. The air grew colder, their breaths visible as wisps of fog in the frigid atmosphere. The sound of their footsteps and breathing echoed unnaturally in the vast space. The temperature dropped rapidly, as if the very air itself were being drained of life. It felt like a prelude to something terrible beyond their comprehension.
At that moment, General Victor’s voice crackled through Sergeant Makoto’s radio.
"Sergeant Makoto Zaki, I have a bad feeling about this. All of you need to get out of that building immediately! Retreat to the dimensional rift entrance and evacuate—NOW! HURRY!"
His tone was sharp and urgent, the weight of his command pressing heavily on the soldiers.
The dread in General Victor’s voice was unmistakable, intensifying the fear that already gripped the team. Whatever lay ahead, they knew they had to act quickly—or risk meeting a fate they could never prepare for.
"Sergeant, the giant stones… they’re starting to pulse, like a heartbeat. And some of them… some of them look like they’re… breaking from the inside…" one of the soldiers reported, his voice trembling as he stared at the towering pillars.
The faint sound of cracking reached his ears, growing louder with each passing second, as if something was stirring within, ready to emerge.
"Sergeant, w-what are your orders? S-Sergeant?" another soldier stammered, his fear palpable. He unconsciously stepped back, clutching his weapon tighter as if it were his last defense.
Before Sergeant Makoto could respond, a deafening crack shattered the tense silence. The sound echoed from several of the massive stone pillars, sending shockwaves reverberating through the chamber.
CRACK! CRACK!
The soldiers froze, their eyes wide with horror as the cracking grew louder and more intense.
CRACK! CRACK! THUD! THUD! CRA-CRAK! CRE-CRAAK!
The deafening noise reverberated through the chamber, each crack like a harbinger of doom. The soldiers' fear morphed into sheer terror as they realized something was breaking free from within the stone pillars. Something far beyond their comprehension, something they were woefully unprepared to face.
It seemed they only had a little time left to retreat… or escape..
"RETREAT! GET OUT OF THERE NOW!! ABORT MISSION!! SERGEANT MAKOTO!! SERGEANT MAKOTOOO..!!"
General Victor’s panicked shouts echoed through Sergeant Makoto’s radio, his voice cracking with desperation. It was as if he already knew—whatever was inside those pillars posed a threat far greater than anything they had ever faced.. Their lives were at stake.
—
Sergeant Makoto felt an overwhelming pressure unlike anything he had ever experienced. Every instinct screamed at him to act, to flee before something unpredictable happened. Yet, he found himself frozen in place, unable to issue a single command.
A sudden surge of fear and tension washed over him like a tidal wave, rooting him to the spot. His hands shook uncontrollably, his entire body trembling as if terror had gripped him from the inside, paralyzing him completely.
Sergeant Makoto and his squad were trapped in an unimaginably dangerous situation. Every fiber of their being screamed at them to run—run as fast as they could.
Suddenly, the dim, flickering lights of the massive room stabilized and began to brighten. The chamber seemed to come alive, as if it were awakening, warning them of the horrors hidden within its shadowed corners.
It felt as though the room itself wanted to unveil the fate awaiting those who dared to trespass and step into its domain.
The light spread rapidly, illuminating the massive chamber one section at a time. Though it wasn’t blinding, it was now bright enough to reveal the full scope of the room—and what lay within it. The thinning, mysterious fog dispersed further under the new brightness, revealing details that had been obscured moments before.
The atmosphere turned deadly in an instant, like a switch had been flipped. The enormous light-brown stone pillars began to split apart, the sound of cracking stone echoing like a drumbeat of doom.
And then they saw them. Something unimaginable..
Something they could never have expected..
Right before their very eyes…
From within, something moved..
Something that struggled to break free, clawing its way out.
