Myles closed his eyes and sighed his shoulders dropping slightly, “Damnit,” he sighed as realization set in. He took a deep breath, rolled his shoulders back and opened his eyes which also glowed slightly now. “You know I can't do that.”
“You don't have to die, not for them.. Just hand them over.” Anthony said softly.
“Who are you working for? Why did you do this?” Myles demanded.
“All you need to know is that they pay well and don't want to hurt you or anyone. They just want the Royal Family.” Anthony said calmly.
“Say that to our friends you murdered!” screamed a woman as tears streaming down her face, the glow of her hands getting brighter.
“Janice, I know, but calm and steady,” Myles directed her. She took a shuddering breath and closed her eyes.
“What if you take me?” Alan said, “Leave Adelina and Alex. I will go willingly.”
“Alan No,” Adelina Whispered.
“If it keeps you safe I will go,” He said.
“Oh that is beautiful. It is a nice sentiment your grace, but I am afraid the deal is for all three of you.” Anthony replied. “Again, nobody has to be hurt. Just hand yourselves over.”
“Never,” Growled Myles.
“So be it. Don't say I didn't try,” Anthony said, his voice fading as he walked away.
“Get ready,” Myles said. The others nodded and repositioned. Alan stood in front of Adelina and Alex, a golden hue emitting from his whole body. The air was thick with anticipation. A nervous energy radiated around them. After what felt like an eternity they heard footsteps approach the perimeter of the barricade.
KA-BOOM!!
“Shield!” Myles exclaimed. They moved as one and disc’s of rock emerged from the ground and floated above and around them. Shimmering ribbons of golden light laced throughout. The side of the barricade where Henry was watching exploded. Chunks of the wall launched at the shield that was created.
“Hold!” Myles spat through gritted teeth. As the dust and smoke billowed around them Myles whispered, “Sharpen.” Again they moved as one and the center of all the discs surrounding them formed spikes.
Adelina was still clutching a crying Alex in her arms. Her eyes clouded over. Alan looked back at her and gasped. “Not now love!” but she did not respond.
“Our only play is to get the Royal Family to the vehicles.” Myles whispered. “If we move the shield as one to the car we should make it.”
“Yes sir,” the others said in unison
“We need to move now before the dust settles. They are most likely watching the wall they blew up. Lets take down the opposite side to leave,” Myles stated. “Is the Queen ok to move?”
“I will carry her,” Alan replied. He scooped her into his arms making sure Alex was secure. “Hold on, my son,” he whispered.

“Let's Move!” Myles said. As one they moved to the opposite wall keeping the stone shield in place around them and shifting their hands to take down a part of the wall to get out. “Steady, but quick before they realize we are gone.”
Myles stepped through the wall first, the others quickly behind him. Once the last shield holder was out a wind whipped around them. The dust and debris cleared from the air. A faint but chilling chuckle swirled around them. They were surrounded. Guns pointed at them. Anthony stepped forward.
“You don’t have to die for them,” he sneered.
“You disgust me” Myles spat through gritted teeth.
“And you don't know the power you face. There is no winning here, but you can walk away.. and live.” Anthony said.
“Never!” Myles exclaimed as the golden hue surrounding him shone brighter. He stomped his right foot forward and slid it to the left while manipulating his hands in front of him. Three of the discs before him split into hundreds of dagger-like slivers. He slid his foot back and pushed his hands forwards and the slivers shot towards the surrounding forces. Seven of them dropped to the ground. A few others cried out in pain. Anthony sensing the attack manipulated his own stone shield, saving himself.
“Fire at will!” He shouted. The remaining forces opened fire on them. Myles and the guards did their best to shield each other and the royals from the barrage of bullets while returning fire.
All of a sudden Adelina screamed, her eyes unclouding and locking with Alan’s.
“I’m sorry I was too late,” she said softly. She raised her hand to his cheek as his eyes went wide with shock and pain. He dropped to his knees still clutching her and Alex.
“I love you,” he grunted as he fully collapsed. Adelina gripped Alex’s tiny body as she stared at Alan’s lifeless body. “See you soon,” she whispered. While on the ground she worked quickly and started to encase Alex in stone. “My little prince, I will love you eternally. I am sorry I will not be there for you.” she whispered, tears brimming in her eyes. She looked around at the four guards and Myles fighting with everything they had. She looked to where Myles took down the initial attackers and saw a bloody Kelile making his way towards the fight. She locked eyes with him and shook her head. He stopped and looked at her confused. She mouthed the words “save him” and looked down at the little face on her lap. Kelile took another step and she flicked her fingers on the ground sending a wave towards him that gripped his foot. He closed his eyes and nodded. Adelina kissed Alex on the forehead and finished encasing him. She stood up slowly still looking towards Kelile and began to glow a brilliant white light. So bright that the fighting ceased for a moment. It was the distraction she needed as she used all her power to maneuver the stone encasement below the ground and moved it towards Kelile. She opened her arms and the ground rippled outwards knocking the enemies to the ground. The wind picked up and she heard the whispered words of too late.
KA-BOOM!!
A third rocket launched towards them Adelina collapsed next to Alan, tears in her eyes as she kissed him. She looked up in time to see Kelile freeing Alex from the encasement and running. She smiled in relief as the explosion went off.
Kelile ran carrying Alex as fast and as far as he could. The explosion sounded behind him and he felt the earth shudder, but he kept running. He ran for what felt like forever when he finally emerged onto the highway. He walked along the shoulder bloodied and bruised. After an hour of walking along the road a car pulled over.
“Do you need help sir?” said a small voice from the car window. A young lady, maybe in her twenties, peered out at him.
“Yes, Please,” Kelile said. Exhausted he piled into the car holding a sleeping Alex.
“Ok,” said the young Lady. They drove for about 40 mins when she pulled off the highway to the next town. “Where do you want to go?” she asked quietly.
“The Police station,” he replied.
She looked relieved and nodded. After about 20 mins of driving she pulled up to the local station.
“Thank you for your kindness,” Kelile said and got out of her car. She nodded again and drove off. Kelile watched until she was out of sight. He then walked into the station. The clerk at the desk looked at Kelile in stunned silence.
“There was an accident. Please look after this child. His name is Alex.” he said as he handed him over. He then turned on his heel and marched out a determined look on his face.
