Chapter 2: Unwavering Resolve

Nestled within the verdant expanses of the Hoenn region lies Petalburg, a haven for diverse Pokémon species.

The aroma of culinary artistry permeated every nook and cranny of the Azure Abode.

Before the boy was to start his new adventure, he prepared an eborate yet wholesome and nourishing lunch, the st gift from Torii to everyone.

He had no way of knowing what his future would bring after leaving here, but rather than wallow in mediocrity, Torii chose to burn his bridges and give it his all. This world was not as romantic as the anime, and even becoming an ordinary trainer had many limitations.

The Azure Abode was nominally an orphanage, but it had only seven children, and only one caregiver, Grandma Oran. In her youth, Grandma Oran had been a Coordinator, but now she was alone. With her remaining savings, she had established the orphanage known as Azure Abode.

Because of Grandma Oran, the children had grown up listening to stories of her youth, and naturally developed a great interest in Coordinators.

Almost every child at the Azure Abode dreamed of becoming a great Coordinator, and Torii was no exception.

However, the children, who were usually full of life, seemed unusually silent today, clearly aware of Torii's decision to leave.

As they gathered around the table, one of the boys finally spoke, "Torii, are you really leaving?"

Torii nodded, having been here for four years. In the end, he had been relying on the Azure Abode all along. Although he had done many things, it was not enough to repay Grandma Oran and the Azure Abode for their kindness. Without them, Torii could not imagine what kind of trouble his initial confusion and bewilderment would have caused, and he had not inherited any wealth, so even simple sustenance could have been a major problem.

As a loner in his previous life, the Azure Abode had given him so much that he had never had before.

So now that it had come to this, Torii naturally could no longer stay here. The children were growing up and no longer needed his care. After years of accumution, Torii felt that it was time for him to embark on his own journey.

Perhaps after venturing out, he could truly do something meaningful for everyone at the Azure Abode.

"But..." The children's voices were choked with emotion. Although they knew of Torii's choice, they were still reluctant to part ways. Their older brother, who had always looked after them, was about to leave. Even if they could meet again in the future, such a long separation was something that these children, who were not yet ten years old, could not bear.

"Ah, children, let's respect Torii's choice."

Grandma Oran, her hair streaked with gray, entered from outside. Seeing her, the children immediately made room for her.

"Grandma Oran, you're here," the children said in unison.

"Eat lunch quickly, Grandma," Torii said.

Faced with the children's pleas for him to stay, it was impossible for Torii not to feel a twinge of wavering in his heart. Although he had not considered himself to be the same age as them, and initially took care of the children out of a sense of gratitude, he was only human.

Having lived here for four years, Torii did not want to see the Azure Abode in a state of desotion and ruin many years ter.

"Let's eat," Torii said, looking at the children who were in low spirits.

And so, at the urging of Grandma Oran and Torii, the children hurriedly ate a few bites of lunch. The exquisite meal was consumed in such a somber atmosphere.

The joyful atmosphere of the past could no longer be found. Grandma Oran tried to adjust the atmosphere, but everyone could tell that both the children and Torii were somewhat absent-minded.

  Finally, the long lunch ended.

"I'm going to pack my things."

Torii said quietly and left the room.

  ...

Lying zily on his bed, Torii's gaze lingered on the ceiling.

Although the children had earnestly pleaded with him to stay, it would not change his resolve.

Torii's steps, his heart, would not allow him to stay in this pce.

Perhaps he would fail, but who could say for sure what the future held?

Torii had not been idle in the past four years, and he was certainly not cking in confidence!

  "Butterfree..."

The beautiful Butterfree danced above Torii's head. At the moment, it was the only one who had come to comfort Torii.

The outside of the window was spotless, all thanks to Butterfree. Some of its moves could be perfectly controlled, subtly and meticulously helping Torii clean the yard.

Butterfree was Torii's first partner, and the first little Pokémon that Torii had trained as a beginner.

Growing up listening to Grandma Oran's stories, Torii was also very interested in Coordinators, and even the little Wurmple yearned for that gmorous stage.

But reality made Torii realize that he had no advantages. After much consideration, Torii finally decided to become a Breeder.

Becoming a Breeder would be very beneficial to Torii's current situation.

Pokémon Breeders, like Coordinators, were a type of Trainer.

They raised rge numbers of different Pokémon. Although their strength may be weaker than professional Trainers, their Pokémon would generally form a complete team, and they would be much stronger than ordinary Trainers in terms of growth, health, and breeding conditions.

Most Breeders made a living by working in the special profession of a Day Care, and Breeders were very well suited to survive in this world.

Any pce could not do without an excellent Breeder.

If Torii could pass the Beginner Breeder exam, his starting point would improve a lot, and even rise in prominence in the field.

After all, he was still so young.

Youth coupled with a mature mind was Torii's greatest advantage! With such a good start, although his starting point was a little low, there were still many things that Torii wanted to do after coming here.

  "Knock, knock, knock."

Torii, who was looking at the ceiling, heard a knock at the door.

  "Come in."

Without thinking, Torii knew that the person coming at this time was most likely Grandma Oran.

"The children are in low spirits," Grandma Oran sighed as she entered the door.

  "I know," Torii said.

"You child, you always speak in such a stern tone. It's just a trip, but you're talking as if it's a farewell to the dead."

Shaking her head, Grandma Oran looked at Torii, somewhat puzzled and helpless.

  "It's not just a trip."

"Grandma Oran, how long do you think the Azure Abode can st with your savings if we stay here?"

"Do you really think these children will be able to find the life they yearn for?"

  Grandma Oran was silent.

"So, for myself, and also for the Azure Abode, I can only choose to leave."

Lying on the bed, Torii ignored Grandma Oran's shocked expression and said to himself.

Torii understood that staying at the Azure Abode might be stable and comfortable for a while, but he would be wasting his best advantages, and in the end, he would truly fail miserably!

So, Torii naturally spoke these words.

Perhaps, apart from seeing the beauty of this world, the Azure Abode was also a concern for Torii. Torii, who did not want to see the Azure Abode decline, could only change it through his own efforts!
