Prologue

Imperial Kora, Capital of the Koran Imperium

  January 29th, 3074 KSY

A shadowy figure stood in the dark of night, overlooking the infinite cityscape of Kora's skyline. He was dressed all in black, his face hidden by a hooded cape that flowed across his shoulders and back. Heavy streams of rain fell from the sky, pitter-pattering onto the concrete beneath the man's feet.

Footsteps echoed from behind the man, and he turned to face them. Another man stepped out of the shadows and approached the first.

"You're late," said the first man. "I've been waiting."

The second man nodded as he reached up and removed the hood from his head. The top half of his face was covered in shadow, but the lower half had the unmistakable visage of a younger man.

“My apologies, my lord. I did what you asked. Everything is ready to be put in motion.”

“Then make it so. I don’t expect to hear from you until it's done.”

The younger man nodded in acknowledgment before turning away and disappearing into the darkness once more. His footsteps faded as they receded down the corridor until he vanished entirely. The cloaked figure waited for some time, watching the horizon with an unfathomable expression. Then, finally, he turned and headed into the night.
