PAST

The door silently opened as Měiqí opened the door as both her and Aria stepped in. Arya was currently checking on the patient and Allen had just left the room. Aria briskly moved to the centre of the room and without sparing a gnce at Mira asked

  “She’s good to go?”

Arya being in a good mood and excited to be able to leave here today if nothing happened nodded

“Yea we just need the other immortal and we’re good to go. Won’t even take an hour.”

“He’ll be here in ten minutes, he’s more anxious than us anyway.”

Měiqí promptly sat on the couch while pulling Aria into her arms while they watched Arya busy herself with Mira

“Have you done the procedure before?”

Where they could not see Arya eyes silently flickered but her body didn’t give away any signs

“No, according to the w that would be illegal.”

Měiqí nodded thoughtfully, her gaze locked on Arya’s figure

“Do you know the saying “experience begets talent”?”

Arya sighed and paused her actions on Mira, she locked eyes with Měiqí and uttered

  “Your point?”

“Your confidence says that you are experienced but that wouldn’t be right as, you haven’t done this... I’m intrigued Arya.”

With a light scoff Arya retorted

“You’re so sure something isn’t adding up. Have you ever thought that i a just that confident because I’m self-aware of my skills and if I had to rate the difficulty, any form of surgery would be ten times harder than whatever this is”

Měiqí gasped with utter disbelief, making no effort to hide her contempt

“Are you saying that you’re better than the creators of the theory, the people our survival depends on? You’re saying they’re incapable!”

It wouldn’t be Arya if she didn’t realized what Měiqí was doing at this rate, while being secretly relieved she answered

“They haven’t made any new breakthroughs for 200 years, just theory upon theory so yes, they’re incapable and old”

Měiqí burst out ughing with aria in her arms looking at her helplessly

“…you still have a beef with them baby?”

“A group run by men? Till their fucking deaths! Ugh where is Samael…”

Aria directly checked her phone before uttering five minutes. Měiqí was definitely losing her patience as her hands were no longer staying put, totally ignoring the married woman who hasn’t seen her wife for 24 hours

Aria directly put a stop to her wife’s wandering hands as she heard Arya’s question

“What actually happened to her? I didn’t think it was possible for an immortal to become this terrible”

  “She’s stupid that’s what!”

“I find it hard to trust what comes from you, no offense Lord aria”

Aria had taken no offense to her words but instead chastised her lover

“I know you dislike her baby but you shouldn’t say that, she has her reasons…dumb way to go about it though”

Aria chuckled when she saw the burning curiosity on Arya’s face as she asked

“You’re really curious about immortals huh… interested in being one”

  Arya, with no hesitation refused

“So did she, she never even wanted to live…hundreds of years ago, when the cities hadn’t taken to the skies, where the corruption could barely be resisted, she found the water of life…

Mira gasped in pain, she had just fallen down a narrow tunnel with a depth of ten meters, her whole body was in pain and she was sure her she’d broken a few bones. In such a situation, others would be gd to have survived but not her, she was utterly fed up with how tenacious she was but despite all that, she had to live.

The cave she fell into was unsurprisingly dark but luckily there was no corruption in here even if it was weird. With a grunt she started to pull herself on the ground as she slid through the only path in the area, every movement brought never-ending pain but she didn’t stop neither did she hesitate. After crawling for an unknown number of time, she heard the silent trickling of water, with newfound vigour she slid faster and came to halt at what she saw. The still silver ke illuminated the cave, white mist covered every part of the cave as it gave it an ethereal vibes.

Mira smiled happily as she directly threw her body into the ke, the pain she felt disappeared as her body healed at disbelieving speed. The moment she was half healed she jumped out of the water and stored water in the container tied to her waist

“I got it Mary… you’ll be fine now!”

With unrelenting steps she went back the way she came and climbed out, surprisingly the moment she heard the loud noise of the cave colpsing, the noise distracted her and she didn’t immediately notice that the corruption wasn’t rushing towards her, with a strong gait she ran off towards the camp

It was in ruins, the whole camp was in ruins. The destruction special only to the corrupted was evident everywhere, incomplete dead bodies littered the floor and with tears streaming down her face she ran to her tent. It was equally in a mess and right besides the destroyed tent was the head of her reason of her living, for what reason is she still alive when the meaning of her existence is no more.

She scrambled to the floor and gently cradled her gem in her arms, the tears never stopping once, she gently kissed her forehead disregarding the blood on it and with no hesitation whatsoever, stabbed her heart.

The pain was screeching, she was slowly losing her senses and bodily functions even though it felt slow, she slumped to the ground. Dead. Mira had only ever believed in one thing, she would live all her life with Mary and equally she would die with her.

Mira gasped violently as she opened her eyes, alive. Despite being confused she simple killed herself again but after the second and third time she realized it was hopeless, for some reason she was forced to live on without her by her side, she didn’t want it but it was a foregone conclusion.

From then her action grew to be more and more extreme, on days with boredom she would use creative ways to kill herself and with others, hurting people became her next favourite pastime. When she finally met the other eleven immortals, each better than the next, she deeply hid her envy seeing them so positive and loved. Till now she would never understand what caused the Chinese girl to suggest a group hug, but if I could go back in time I would refuse cause tell now I can’t peacefully commit suicide unless I want everyone else dead so that sucked but that didn’t bug me for long, I finally had a passion. I was going to turn Mira into the most disgusting pce when pced besides thriving and happy cities.

At a point it went to an extent that she was just trying to get killed, if she dies she can reunite with Mary but they didn’t care, even the person that gave her the city so when she found out he pn to burn her to death, at first she was curious… did they think they would survive if she died? The second thing was that would I permanently die if someone else killed me, I never got to try that out and the st thing was

  “Will Aria save me…”

So I let the whole thing happen, I could kill them all with a thought but I didn’t, I was fed up with living, I wanted death in a way I no sane person would understand, I craved his comfort, I dream of his love.

It happened, the magnificent mansion was engulfed in bzing fmes, the heat was welcoming, he felt euphoric. Slowly but surely the familiar slow death was experienced, my organs started to fail, my lungs burned m skin melted. This was as horrifying as it could get but I wasn’t scared, my whole existence felt happiness from the nether realm, when it felt like I was completely in death’s embrace, a demon snatched me away from him…

The room was totally silent, Měiqí couldn’t stand her lover’s silence and lightly bit her cheek while asking

  “What happened next love?”

With a sigh she melted into her lover’s arms and said nonchantly

“She’s been in a coma since then so I have no idea”

“Oh. Well I was wrong about something. She’s not just stupid, she’s an imbecile as well”

“Maybe. But at least she didn’t directly commit suicide. Right. Lord Aria, how come you know all this?”

Memory search. An ability special only to Aria, how she uses it are known only to herself and her lover

“Last thing what’s Chinese and why did she have to highlight it?”

“That is the nationality of a Chinese citizen. Aren’t you a genius?”

“Aria doesn’t teach history of the old world. That doesn’t answer why she highlighted it, I do not see a situation where your country would be important.”

“Maybe she’s racist then. Would not surprise me!”

  “…racist?”

“Someone that dislikes someone based on their skin colour and or country. Now please go back to being an invisible genius!”

“That’s really stupid though. Judging based on skin is so useless”

Měiqí ughed out loud with a bit of amusement in her tone said

“You kids know nothing, back in the fifties-”

“Baby. We don’t talk about then remember?”

“Yes ma’am. Can I ask for your presence in a more private setting ma’am…”

“As tempting as that sounds, we have business to deal with so hold it in baby...”

The minutes flew by and finally Samael arrived, safe to say everyone was pissed but they let it slide. Samael was lying adjacent to Mira as he nervously looked at the big needle in Arya’s hand

“Um young dy, re you sure we need such a um… rge needle?”

“Mr immortal. Please for all immortals, be less of a scared bot now would you prefer to be conscious or unconscious?”

Samael shot a quick gnce at the needle and said unconscious without hesitation, Arya cheekily grinned and before Samael could react, he was knocked out. That would probably bruise

  “This is a coward.”

Měiqí nodded with satisfaction as she said

“Yea he’s afraid of even pain, he’s always meters away from the danger and literally the only person that likes her to do this so perfect match”

“… Match? Mira is in all seriousness a lesbian.”

“Why did you think the match meant couple? Samael is gay. His city is called nd of the gays for a reason.”

  “Really?”

Heart in body life in another. According to the principles the rarer the better, the main component was the heart blood. Blood extracted directly from the heart core, it is very painful and a preferred method is to knock them out with a force that could cause concussion, any other methods and they wake.

Arya silently tore up his clothes and opened cut open his chest

“You are trashy in stitching, I bet you he’s going to cry when he sees it!”

  “Stop talking, you’re distracting her”

Not really, Arya was completely locked in, only aqua could distract her at this rate. The needle calmly penetrated the heart and his body visibly shudders, after two seconds she stopped pushing in the needle and started drawing out blood.

Pure white blood flowed into the shaft and the first thing that popped to mind was, ‘is this the cause.’

The process was steadily slow, not slow enough that you’d have to spend an hour on it and not fast enough that he would wake up and ruin everything. In about ten minutes she was done and directly took out a much smaller needle to extract Mira’s heart blood, as she was still recovering the needle could barely extract any blood but thankfully she only needed a few drops and few minutes ter she was done as well.

After putting a temporary closure on both wounds she did the next part, the critical part was now. Arya switched on the burner and pced a mini jade bowl on it, after heating for a while she poured in Samael’s blood in, after gently stirring it for exactly four minutes before pcing the first drop of Mira’s blood, stirred for two minutes and added the second drop.

Arya turns off the burner at this rate and stirs for five minutes and adds the st drop. She covers it and changes to two new syringes, she first filled up the bigger one and then filled up the smaller one. With no time to waste she injected them into Mira and Samael’s heart respectively, did the clean-up and stitched them up the best she could.

  “Done”

Arya turned to the two immortals who looked confused, aria was the first to speak

“That’s all, you’re not adding and supplements? Just their blood?”

“Yes. I said this was easy. They made the theories so complicated because of their weird reasoning. It was never made to be complicated”

“Yea yea. To be sure she can’t die now?”

“Unless he dies yes. Anyway I believe I’m done here. I’m going to leave now. Send my bance to my account, bye.”

Arya did a quick wash-up and before five minutes passed she had left aria’s mansion and was on her way to reunite with her wife.

Meanwhile aria and Měiqí had retired to their room and as for the two patients… they won’t die either way so who cares, these two specifically cared even less.
